Why is Easter Sunday not in Apple Calendar but April Fools Day is!

I read about this on a US thread, so thought I'd check what you get in the UK. Easter Sunday has indeed disappeared. I'm not too bothered about this as it is always on a Sunday here in UK.

I use holiday calendar feeds in web development and they are useful for clients as it saves them having to input these holiday dates each year. What I do have a problem with is when the Calendar feed signals a public holiday for days that aren't Public or Bank holidays. Thats what people need to know - when they can stay in bed!

So this year in the UK we are getting two extra days off from Apple, as their calendar displays Christmas Eve and New years eve as holidays. I've suddenly got two days off extra!

And it looks like April Fool's Day is a holiday....

… or is this just an April Fool from Apple (in November)?

Anyone got any idea what is going on here?

Hi Dozza,

I see that you'd like some information regarding the holiday calendar on macOS and why certain holidays appear that aren't public or bank holidays and that you're not seeing Easter on the Calendar. I can see why you'd reach out about this; I'm happy to help. It is expected that there will be certain dates on the holiday calendar that aren't offical public or bank holidays:

The Calendar app on your iOS device and Mac features a built-in holiday calendar that’s customized based on the holidays that are most recognized in your country or region. These include official government, religious, and other traditional holidays.

Regarding the Easter holiday, the US Holiday calendar shows Easter on April 21, 2019. Can you confirm that Easter is not listed for this date on the UK calendar?

Best Regards.

It is showing in April 2019. Apologies.

But a 'holiday' to me is a government or Bank holiday. April Fool's Day IS traditional, but is not a traditional Holiday. If your putting April Fools in there, you've got a long list of others that have been ignored. I'm thinking Gloucester Cheese Rolling Day and the likes.😝
