I found some YouTube videos in help formatting my sd card so I can use it for my dash cam. Steps are to bring up disk utility and go to erase option to click ms-dos (fat). once I click erase all the options under that tab are grayed Out. I see the raid tab next to it and i can make changes with that. I am not experienced in this area so if you can respond with that in mind it would be greatly appreciated!
Is your camera unable to format its own storage? If not then here's what to do on the computer.
As a test, if you pick another format besides ms-dos (fat), can you erase the drive?
Is the SD card listed in Disk Utility? If not check that it has been properly inserted in the slot. You may need to push it in.
The instructions say that a 16 or 32gb can just be done in the dash cam but if it’s a 64gb it should be formatted to fat32 on a computer first before putting it in the dash cam. :(

I am stuck - I guess I’m not understanding how this is different from what I was doing? Nothing populates when I click on erase. It’s the same issue. No drop down and everything is grayed out.
I’ve tried it multiple times. Restarting computer, ejecting disk. I can’t get past clicking erase because no drop down is available.
All options under erase tab are grayed out. Not just that option.
Select the "untitled" entry for the SD card then see if the Erase button is now active. If that's not the case then check if the card is formatted NTFS. If it is then you will need to format it on a PC.
Yes. It’s listed as untitled - I can do other things to the sd card but not the erase functions.
