Canon Camera Connect app

Ok, I installed the Canon Camera Connect app to be able to move photos from my new Rebel T6 to my iPad. I went to look for where the test photo ended up and was not able to find it. What I did find was probably thousands of new Albums with nothing in them. All were titled Canon EOS Rebel T6, with 0 photos in them.

Has anyone else encountered this and if so, is there a way to mass delete all of these added albums?

Thank you.

FWIW... For those trying to mass delete the empty albums (assuming you use iCloud), you needn't download anything to do so. You can simply access your photos via your iCloud account online at https://www.icloud.com (so Mac or PC, of course) and click on albums in the navigation panel. The empty albums should appear grouped together at the bottom of the screen (mine did). You can hold shift while selecting them and delete them at once. I still selected them in smaller groups just to be on the safe side that I didn't grab something else by accident. Even so, it took me very little time to do it. It's at least a quick workaround until Cannon gets their act together.

YES you CAN mass delete the albums if you have a Mac(book etc) and Photos.app installed and your iCloud connected. Go to "My Albums" in the sidebar and select the dropdown folder. Then press and hold Apple key and select all the albums to delete with the cursor pulling over them. Then right click and delete.

Still I hope all of you are reporting this issue to Canon, so we make them change it!

I received this from Canon the other day but haven’t had the time to test it. Note that I’m having this issue on an iPhone X.

Thank you for contacting Canon regarding your EOS Rebel T6i EF-S 18-55mm IS STM Lens Kit. I understand that our Camera Connect app created lots of empty folders, and I'll be glad to assist.

I suggest that you delete the app by pressing the icon and then moving your finger clockwise around it until the x appears. Click the X to delete then press DONE on the top right of the phone.

Make sure your phone has the latest version of iOS by going to SETTINGS - GENERAL - SOFTWARE UPDATE. Follow Apple's instructions for updating the OS, if an update is available.

Then, try loading a new memory card in the camera without any images. After doing so, go ahead and reload Camera Connect from the App Store and then reestablish a connection.

Let us know if problems persist. Otherwise, please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Thanks again for choosing Canon, and I hope you have a good week.

Sincerely,

Nick

Hi Cåts and laceup524

ok I will try to explain better to get you there

Open Photos.app on MacOS

In the Sidebar look for "My Albums"

Click on "My Albums" so that all albums are shown in the window on the right

Scroll down until you see your several Canon PowerShot albums (or similar) and check that they are empty

Press and hold command-Key and select all of the albums you don't want anymore

Right-click on one of the selected albums and select "Delete ... albums"

Done!

@laceup524: I have no idea why your albums do not show - are you logged in with your iCloud account and activated Photos in the settings?

You are correct, I am not use iCloud photos and don't desire to but thank you. (sorry I just saw your reply today)

I never hear from Canon and have contact again, to be told again someone will call in 2 business days.

These are not even folders. I searched "Canon" in the photos app and it shows nothing (Because I deleted actual album and photos in it). So is to say these "folders" are empty as we know it, but, will not show in actual search. Still is annoying since it is able to delete one by one.

I hab the same problem. Roughly 1600 empty albums named Canon EOS 77D. I tried numerous windows tool for iPhone sync, but without success. The most promising was mobimover free, which let me select all of the unwanted albums. But then the deletion was not carried out for some reason.

Has anybody found a Windows (or Mac) sync tool that allows batch deletion of those empty albums?

I would assume the Photos app which is part of mac OS.

FWIW, why is anyone using that Canon app? There is no need to do so; you can simply either connect your camera or insert your card in a built-in or USB card reader and plug that into your Mac. You can then either preview them directly from the card or have them imported into the Photos app automatically.

Have you resolved issue yet? If so please share how to delete all albums in once.

I just contacted Canon today because this is first time it happened to me. Worked fine yesterday, download 178 photos and that was it. No extra albums.

Today after download 100 photos, to iPad, suddenly additionally 300 empty albums appear.

Canon tech told me they will escalate to engineers and call me 2 days.
