I don't have a bank account. Please tell me I don't need one here to buy apps and accessories and the computer itself. I think you can buy the computer with a Gift Card. Tell me for sure.
Oh, and ... how do you edit or remove your own posts? There's gotta be a way. I tried before. I was going to edit a LOT.
General Merchandise? What kind of general merchandise?
You can use Apple Store Gift cards to purchase items like computers, cables, peripherals from Apple stores, physical or online.
You cannot use an Apple Store gift Card in say Walmart or Bestbuy stores if that's what you mean.
You can use iTunes, App Store, iBooks, and Apple Music gift cards to buy items from those stores. The credit from any card can be used in any of the mentioned stores.
There is no such thing as Community merchandise.
You may be able to load preloaded gift cards, from MasterCard or or Visa as a payment method for both the iTunes and App Stores, as well as the Apple Stores, online and physical. But that comes down to the specific card.

There is no limit of what you can buy with a particular card.
If the card is actually accepted, you can buy anything you want with it. There is no list to determine what you can and cannot buy. Just whether or not the card is accepted.
You set your Apple IDs payment method to the particular gift card you want and if its accepted at that point, it can be used to buy anything you want from Apple.

You can use Gift cards with your Apple ID or to buy hardware products at a physical store or the online store.
Note that the gift cards for Apps and Media from the iTunes and App Stores are different than the gift cards for hardware and are not interchangeable.

You can set your Apple ID to not have a payment method and use only gift cards. In fact my Apple ID has no payment method attached and works off of iTunes gift cards.

As to deleting and editing posts, while you cannot actually delete a post, you can edit it for 15 minutes after it is posted. To do so, click on the downward arrow next to the "Following" button at the top right corner of your post. The Edit option will be there for 15 minutes.
Only the forum admins/hosts can potentially delete a post, and will only do so if it does not meet the terms of service of the forums.
Hi Chris. Yes this has been helpful but I still don't know if I can buy apps and et ceteras BESIDES iTunes and Apple ID Community stuff. General merchandise has not been mentioned.
Oh -- Is there any way to communicate at all besides getting into the Lounge on a higher level? Without an actual computer (and no one can help me get one it seems, helping me the ways I said in my profile) I have a hard time getting on ANY higher levels.

People will continue to be able to comment regardless of whether or not you click "Solved". Only the Hosts can lock a thread.

If you click Solved, other people will be able to comment, but may be less likely to look at the post since it would be marked as Solved. You can always add the Solved later.
Your original question about gift cards was already answered. I have no bank account. Can I buy stuff with a gift card?
As far as edits to your posts, you can only edit within the first 15 minutes of your post. After that, you cannot. As far as deleting posts, that cannot be done at all, except by the hosts if they feel that they have violated any of the Terms of Use. Generally, they would not be removed.
Eric Root gave me some links to Master Card and Visa, but I can't find them any more. This is strange. Was it against policy? But what can be wrong with saying that you can't buy most things including downloads with preloaded gift cards except specifically at the iTunes and App Stores and Apple Stores? I'd love someone to check it out and see but I guess I'll go myself to the Master Card and Visa sites and and look it up laboriously. WHY'd they take the links DOWN?? It must be against policy to tell people that the policy of Apple is questionable because it ties you down to the oppressive banking System.
I guess a list of every kind of thing you can buy from Apple (non-specifically) and then saying if you can use a pre-loaded gift card from Master Card or Visa with them would be helpful.
I wanted to start a discussion about this. But if I did it it would probably soon be full of me asking for help for my problems. Maybe someone else can, or you can tell me just what to do to do it, with some guidelines.
