Is your AirPort an AirPort Extreme or a Time Capsule? For the latter, if you see a solid amber status LED, that would indicate that the hard drive inside may have failed. On the other hand, a flashing amber status LED would indicate an issue or configuration change is required.
A persistent, flashing amber light indicates that any of the several potential conditions may require your attention:
About the status light on AirPort base stations- Apple Support
To find out why your base station's status LED is flashing amber:
It sounds like you have a Time Capsule. Is this the most recent "tall" or "tower" shaped version of the product.....or.....do you have an older "flat" or "square" version of the Time Capsule that looks like a small white pizza box with rounded corners?
If you have an older flat or square version, look on the bottom of the device for the model number, which is likely embedded in the foam pad base. The model number starts with an "A" followed by 4 numbers. Post back with that information so we will know which model that you have.
Is the status light slowing blinking amber, about once a second.....or.....is the amber light solid?
Sorry, but we did not get the complete model number. It will read like A xxxx where the "x" is a number. For example.....A 1355
Follow the instructions that Tesserax has already posted for you regarding a blinking amber light status.
Sorry for the delay. I have an older version, looks like a pizza box. Model # A 5 oghz indicator light is blinking about once a second.
A 1409 (really small type)
