Unresponsive screen - unable to unlock iPhone

The screen on my iPhone 6 has been acting up lately. Yesterday the lower 1/3 of the screen became completely unresponsive to touch and I’m unable to unlock my phone. I did a forced restart hoping that would help. It did not. After doing some research, I tried using Siri to activate “Voice Over”, but Siri is unavailable without entering my passcode because I restarted the phone. Tried connecting to iTunes on my computer, but once again this doesn’t work because I get a message on my iPhone screen to unlock device to use any accessories. Any help I can get would be great. I just got a new iPhone, but would love to get pics off the old one and back it up to iTunes so I can transfer everything to the new phone. Thanks in advance.

Hey jwanderson7,

I understand your display is unresponsive on your iPhone 6. I'd be happy to help out.

You have done great steps so far. To continue, let's use the steps here:

Get help with the display on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If your display doesn't respond to touch

If your display, or part of your display, doesn't respond, you might need to force restart your device:

  • On iPad Pro 11-inch and iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation): Press and immediately release the Volume Up button, then press and immediately release the Volume Down button. Press and hold the Power button until the device restarts.
  • On iPhone 8 and later: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Then press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
  • On an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus: Press and hold both the Side and Volume Down buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
  • On an iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad, or iPod touch: Press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

If your display continues being unresponsive to touch, contact Apple Support.

Cheers!
