Downloading older versions of Netflix

Is it possible to download and older version of Netflix? My toddler deleted Netflix off of our iPad mini and we can restore the app as the current version of Netflix is not compatible with the iOS on the mini.

My searches are basically telling me no. And everything I've tried so far has not worked. But I'm hoping there may be a way.

it depend on Netflix, app developers can support as many versions of ios in app store as they choose

many because of cost limit that amount in some cases only to 1 version

if you go into app store and choose your account and purchases->not on this ipad

and find Netflix there and attempt to redownload it, it will inform of if there are a compatible older version available

Netflix versions DID exist all the way back to iOS 5.1.1.

Not sure which procedure you used, but a first gen iPad isn’t going to work.

You need to download the newest version to a newer iDevice or download the newest version of the app from the iOS App Store using iTunes 12.6.5, first before attempting to download the older version of the app.

Some one else contacted Netflix recently and was, also, told the older Netflix apps support iPads as far back as iOS 5.1.1.

I believe the info from this random Netflix employee may not be correct nor accurate.

Here's my response to you in that other thread post.

“If you used my link these procedures ALL work.

You are doing something wrong.

If you have a newer iDevice and downloaded the new version of Netflix, you go back to your older iPad, open the iOS App Store App. In the lower menu under purchased, tap and look for Netflix app in your list of purchased apps.

Tap the download “cloud icon”.

If the older versions of Netflix are still on the iOS App Store servers, you should get a pop-up message stating an older compatible version of the app is available for download and would you like to download it?

Tap OK and the older version of Netflix should download to your iDevice.

If you used my iTunes 12.6.5 method and were successful in downloading and installing iTunes 12.6.5, you then create a new iTunes library, log into the iOS App Store from within iTunes, using your Apple ID and password.

Look for the recent version of Netflix in the iOS App Store.

Download the new version of Netflix to iTunes 12.6.5 on your computer.

Once you have installed the newer version of the app in iTunes.

Go back to my above steps, open the App Store on the older iOS device, go to the Purchased option in the bottom menu, look for the Netflix app and tap the download “cloud icon”.

If the older versions of Netflix are still on the iOS App Store servers, you should get a pop-up message stating an older compatible version of the app is available for download and would you like to download it?

Tap OK and the older version of Netflix should download to your iDevice.

All three of my procedures ALL still work!”

Try one or all of these procedures, once again.

Hi there. I've got the same issue and just had a chat with Netflix; confirming my hunch that the older version of the Netflix iOS app is no longer available from the Appstore since their 28th November update. Shame because the older version was working perfectly just fine. In short, for now I hope, older iDevices won't work with Netflix anymore. Chat transcript below; also told Netflix that they should tell the customers that the older version is no longer available, save us the headache of trying to figure it out ourselves.

You

Update.

I fear you maybe right.

I did a test, myself.

I have a spare, old 2010 iPad that I setup as new under my Apple ID.

It is running iOS 5.1.1.

I just tried to download the older iOS 5.1.1 version of Netflix to that iPad by going into the App Store under my purchases, and the app told me it was incompatible with this iPad.

This is either a temporary issue with the iOS App Store or Netflix has very recently removed all of its older versions from the iOS App Store.

That would be a real bummer for older iPad users, now.

Luckily, I have the really old Netflix app for iOS 5.1.1 on another 1st gen, 2010 iPad.

And I already have an iOS 9 compatible version on my iPad 2.

The version of Netflix that I still have on my other 2010 iPad running iOS 5.1.1 still works fine, it a bit slow with showing all of the movie/TV content. Otherwise, still streams fine from that 8-year old iPad.

That is amazing.

I am hoping that this may be just some sort of temporary issue.

If not, it looks like no one with an older iPad is going to be able to get any of the older Netflix app versions for older iDevices.

Not good!
