Mouse and keyboard keep disconnecting

Ever since I installed MacOS Mojave (now 10.14.1) I have been having trouble connecting the Apple mouse and keyboard. Both had always been working fine (over a year).

Now they don't connect or lose connection when the mac wakes up. Sometimes they reconnect after a few minutes.

I have tried all the obvious thing like deleting the bluetooth list in Library/Preferences, but the problem hasn't gone away.

Sometimes it works, then the connectivity fails again.

A reply to a previous post about this suggested to restart the SMC, which I did and which solved the problem at the time. (the post was then marked as solved so I have to re-start the thread). However, it happened again today, so the SMC restart didn't seem to have been a permanent fix.

Is there anything else that can be done?

iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015), macOS Mojave (10.14.1)

Hi everyone ..... HAVE SOLUTION ...... most likely.

There is another forum on here, somewhere that I ran across.

The problem is the Android File Transfer app ..... everyone that was having the bluetooth disconnecting, etc. just deleted this app and everything went back to normal, and working .... including me.

I restarted after deleting just to make sure, but I've been problem free for over a week now ..... others MUCH longer!!!

than be surprised.

as I already stated, all worked nicely with High Sierra and with Mojave the problem started immediately. I have nothimg connected different than before or changed. I have even removed a passive USB SDRAM dock to check any issues. there is only a printer connected with USB. that is it. I do not understand, why problems, which can be really easy drilled down to a software upgrade, invite everybody to suggest that it is a hardware issue? Everything worked nicely, a software update comes along and problems start. straightforward. Just that Apple does not respond to that. Please do a NVRAM reset. please do a SMC reset. please remove all electronic equipment from the room. please stand on your head and wink....please do everything so hat we can put the blame somewhere else than in the buggy software...

Mojave stinks and the user is the beast of burden.

I activated the safe mode and the problem disappeared. Unfortunately the audio device is disabled and I am not going to fiddle around with some configuration files (it might have side effects).

Interestingly enough I could set up a connection to a BT speaker and play sound through it (although with crackling - short interruptions and poor sound quality). Also an Airplay device works - with good sound quality.

Also there is a strange coincidence, that I am also having problems on an Android phone (Galaxy s9+) with a BT audio headphone, when listening to Internet radio after updating to version 9.0 (Pie).

Could it be, that MacOs and Android use the same code base regarding the communication stacks?

I passed info on to the Apple Support person who is trying to work through this with me. While he is doing his best, the fact that it might be a coding issue is where it gets frustrating. Obviously, if it is indeed a coding issue, then this is something that has to be handled at a central level and by techs who are able to access the source code. All we can do, as users, is try and pin it down to a certain/specific area/function and then let them do the investigative work. I'll post a further reply with the information I sent through to Apple Support just in case anyone else wants to experiment in a similar way and possibly concur with my thoughts.

SMC hasn't worked for you if you BT problem occurs every 45 min or so!

Unless that's ok with you. It isn't for me. I tried a lot of what was suggested, but I doubt that anything worked.

It still happens now and then, but less, that all turns dead, and after 10-15 sec they come back. Before it was worse, had to re-start the iMac every time, or wait for minutes.

Problem started after upgrading to Mojave.

Those are good links. But I resolved my Wi-Fi connecting and disconnecting issues by going into Network in System Preferences then clicking <Advanced> and renewing DHCP Lease in the TCP/IP tab. I am still unsure about the Bluetooth as I'm Rocketfish cables and I have a wood desk and LED light bulbs. So, I do not expect any interference. But something is causing the interference and the factory reset helped but still not perfect.

I am having the same problem. My Bluetooth Magic Trackpad 2 works just great, as long as it is connected. Then after 24 hours or maybe less, it disconnects and never reconnects. I have to go back to the list of Bluetooth devices to reconnect it. Then it works fine again for another day.

This is very frustrating. Prior to Mojave the trackpad just worked seamlessly.

I have exactly the same issues of bluetooth connectivity as described here ever since installing OS Mojave, including the most recent update. I never had an issue with High Sierra and I still have an older iMac computer with this operating system which has no bluetooth connectivity issues. I have tried all the solutions offered by Apple Support and none of these work. It is clearly an issue with Mojave. Please sort this issue out, Apple. I have been using your computers for almost 30 years, and never had a problem like this. It looks like Apple has taken its eye off the ball and is no longer as reliable as it once was. Very sad about this.

I have the same problem except mine is a brand new machine, Mojave 10.14.4 - been using it around 3 weeks with mouse & keyboard dropping out consistently. I have done all the checks required - battery levels, switched on, looked at the preferences etc etc. I unchecked 'put hard discs to sleep' in the energy saver preferences and that seemed to fix it for about a week. today it happened again. can someone please advise. nothing scarier than brand new machine (at their huge prices) doing things that it shouldn't.
