How to remove annoying "Upgrade to macOS Mojave" messages

Periodically I get a notification in the upper right corner of my computer screen requesting me to Install "macOS Mojave". I don't want to install Mojave and I worry I'll accidentally click the install button. I've tried removing these messages by going into System Preferences then the App Store and unchecking the following

  1. Download newly available updates in the background
  2. Install app updates
  3. Install macOS

But, a month later I still get the "Upgrade to macOS Mojave" with no option to stop the messages - just Install or Details.

Perhaps there's something already installed? I was getting these messages prior to initiating the above procedure.

Any ideas?

You could try the following

sudo mv /Library/Bundles/OSXNotification.bundle ~/Documents/ && softwareupdate --ignore macOSInstallerNotification_GM

To undo the above the command would be

sudo mv ~/Documents/OSXNotification.bundle /Library/Bundles/ && softwareupdate --reset-ignored
