First aid could not unmount the volume for repair

Hi there,

I really need your help to keep my 1TB HDD safe.

This is my iMac model.

The problem is it was working normally. Then I start iMac and it said "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer", there are 2 options, eject or ignore.

I tried First Aid but it's not working.

It's still appeared in the list, but when I open, it just shows folders without any file.

Please help me to fix this problem, I tried many options on the internet, but it doesn't help.

I just want to keep Sierra.

Thank you,

It looks as though your external hard drive is failing or has failed. Whatever data you have on it may be gone if you don't have it backed up. If Disk Utility isn't capable of repairing the drive you could try Disk Warrior if the data is worth the expense DiskWarrior 5-Official Site-The Disk Utility for Mac Disk Repair, Mac Directory Repair, Mac Disk Recovery, Mac Data Reco…

The problem doesn't appear to be with your internal start up drive but you should unplug the external drive immediately so that you don't damage it further and it doesn't affect your system.
