Safari can’t open BlogSpot hosted sites!

Since this morning I can't view mine or any other BlogSpot hosted sites! The following error message keeps being displayed:

Safari can’t open the page http://johnhood.blogspot.com/. The error was: “lost network connection” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005)

Blogger's Status page suggests no problems (at present) and Windows users have been able to view my site sans problems.

I have sent a bug report to Apple. However, I'd be most grateful if someone would please check to see whether or not my site loads OK? Thank you.

Hi Carol & John

In your cable modem/router ( dunno what you use?) there might be a setting for dns numbers in addition to those you've seen in OSX network settings.

If there are, it's worth setting/changing those to something other than the off-the-shelf Virgin ones.

Some UK based dns# for you

Plusnet/Force9 212.159.13.50 212.159.6.9

?? I forget whose these are 194.74.65.68 194.74.65.69

many routers/modems are set up by entering 192.168.1.1 into a browser - but hopefully Virgin give some info on this.

Hi - I used the 194 alternate DNS on the router and didn't work. I will try the 212 when I get back later just dashing out. used the 66 address to get onto Blogger but when i used to go from there to Belmont Club - bang back to the same old error.

tried pinging it - according to data pings were sent and received. here is the data below. I am not a technial person but a long time mac user - I have racked my common sense databank and come up empty - I don't recall altering anything on my settings but and had been connecting to the sites for months and in one case years with no problem.... have same problem with Firefox as with safari - have same problem with my laptop (Intel) and emac and imac (Power pc). happens with any site that has blogspot in its title. wierd. The ISP says it has nothing to do with them.. I dunno...thanks for yr efforts.

Hi Andy and Carol,

Andy. Appreciate your feedback. I too have tried the DNS addresses to no avail! I'm using a Motorola modem and, like Carol, have not made any changes to my modem settings prior to this week's apparent issues with BlogSpot servers. I have posted a thread on Google Groups where another Mac User, also using Virgin Media, has exactly the same issue that Carol and myself are facing!

http://groups.google.com/group/blogger-help-troubleshoot/browse_frm/thread/f7087 e130dcf6942/c29ebf36114b7190#c29ebf36114b7190

I have noted that modem configuration is reporting the following update failure:

2007-03-03 14:47:16 4-Error E107.0 SW upgrade Failed after download - Incompatible SW file

2007-03-03 14:47:15 6-Notice E102.0 SW Download INIT - Via Config file cm-2148-256

Also, I've noticed that the modem's lights are often flickering out of sink and connection has been lost. Guessing there's some network fragility!

Thanks for all your help.

John
