*I have found the solution!*
1)uninstall/delete quicktime, use registry editor to get rid of any traces of it (as it burrows into your registry like a parasite...)
2)don't
ever touch the "install quicktime" .exe again (feel free to put it on a floppy and burn/stop/shred it if it makes you feel better)
3)Get quicktime alternative so .mov files can be played in WMP, or even better, VLC media player. VLC is freeware, amazing, and can play just about any media file out there (other than real media, but i suggest avoiding those at all costs anyways...)
4)make sure all media files are set to play in either of those by default.
5)rejoice as you may enjoy media again!
now some may say "but i have an iPod, and iTunes wont iFunction without iT."
simple, download EphPod, its an iTunes alternative. Now its not as shiny as iTunes, but it allows you to put files on your iPod, edit their tags, and even download files from your iPod (which iTunes wont do...)
simple as that :]
