Quicktime Buffer Overrun Detected Error with Vista

I downloaded the latest version of QT when I got my new computer two weeks ago, and it looks like everything installed correctly with QT, but I cannot playback any of my .MOV files. I get an "Buffer Overrun Detected!" error window, and it sometimes shuts down Windows completely. Any ideas?

I'm running XP Pro SP 2, Quicktime 7.2 and was having the same problem. I got the problem to go away by switching to Safe Mode under preferences>>advanced in Quicktime. I had tried before just disabling Direct Draw, but keeping DirectX still active--that didn't do the trick. But switching from DirectX to safe mode did. There may be some tradeoffs to using safe mode, but I haven't run into any yet.
