QuickTime 7.1.5 Gets ? in Q; can not play

Hi,
I down loaded QT 7.1.5 upgrade. Now all I get is a Q with a ? in it and can not play video or audio.

Any body know how to correct this? and what happened? bug in upgrade?

I deleted orginal, downloaded new copy several times, still no video/audio.

Thanks.

I am suddenly having a problem with QT again in both Safari and Firefox today. Several weeks ago after updating to 7.2.0 I was getting the Q? in both browsers and after updating the Falsh and Shockwave players, it was fixed. Today I was using Safari on businessweek.com and suddenly the Q? is back. And I am also getting more of the spinning beach ball since the last set of updates. If I wanted these headaches I would of bought Vista.

Hello, I am also getting the ? or a crash when trying to play Quicktime movies from within IE, Safari, or Firefox. Noting I do seems to make a difference. This problem has been around for at least 3 or 4 months now. Reinstalling, tweaking settings, etc does not seem to help. If I go back to Qucktime 6, some things work but of course you can't play most the stuff out there now. Very frustrating. I pretty much gave up on this months ago but am now hoping there is a fix. Thanks!

None of the above worked completely for me. However removing Quicktime plugin.plugin from their root library folder, Internet plugins resolved the problem with Firefox.

Still had the problem with Safari. Then, I went to root library/Internet Plug-Ins/ QuickTime Plugin.wegplugin/ Contents/ QuickTime Plugin and deleted that (QuickTime Plugin. ) Now Safari worked without the ?in Quicktime Logo.

That was August 23. The fix is still working to date.

I've been having exactly the same problem in the last 2-3 weeks. Then, when there was a security update, the ? phenomena disappeared only to reappear today, after the latest update to version 7.1.5

yes. Everything worked fine until upgrade.
The disable flash check box ( system preferences, advanced tab uncheck box)
worked for me at least today. hope it continues to work.
thank you everyone!

I'm a PC user, not sure if that is important or not. But I was in the same place as you guys kept unchecking the enable flash and all that other stuff that didn't apply to me as it were. For those of you who have yet to find a solution try this, it worked for me.

Go to my computer, program files, mozilla firefox, plugins, delete all files with npqt*.dll. The next thing I knew I was watching youtube, movie trailers, everything! I hope this works for you guys.

Same problem...again. I tried the fix that I used last April (logged out; logged in as another user and QT worked OK, so we thought the problem was in my users-cache; so moved my users- cache TO THE DESKTOP-DID NOT TRASH; and got rid of Question marks) ... but last Aprils fix did not work this time. Switch to Firefox until Safari figures out what they are doing wrong?
