HD DVD question on toshiba HD a2

(Sorry for the repost, I posted this question on FCP forum but didn't get much of a responce so I thought of putting it here. It is more of a DVDSP issue anyways. Again sorry, and thanks for any help you can provide.)

Hello everyone, hope you are all enjoying your week.

Ok my issue is this. I burned a HD DVD through DVDSP. Now the video plays perfect audio and all. My only issue is the menu. I made a menu in motion which I later put in FCP and added audio to it and exported. I then used compressor and compressed to HD DVD mpeg2. I then put in DVDSP and burned the whole thing. Now when I put it in the toshiba the motion menu plays but I can't see the bottons so I can't select anything and the audio doesn't play. Any ideas? (I set the menu to 1920x1080i)

Also: I had done a test before without audio just a basic menu on DVDSP and I just typed in play. That worked fine I could see the highlight bar and select no problems. Now on this one I did basicly the samething except I added audio, motion background and I have it loop intead of still at the end of the menu. Could any of those things make a diffrence? Thanks..

Which version of DVD SP are you using? The newest one of the Intel version cured some of the issues, and using .aif audio also. Also do quick search for Toshiba HD in this forum, there may be a discussion on the issue

i have the newest version of DVDSP. i did a search but all i find is people having problems with the audio on the whole dvd. my problem is just the menu

could it be that you can only use still images on the menu? thats the only thing im thinking. becuase when i made the other hddvd with no motion going on in the background it worked...??????

you can definitely use motion menu's

The problem you are describing sounds like you are not using DVDSP 4.1.2.

also have you made sure that your overlay file is 1920 by 1080 and they are all navigating correctly, colors assigned, etc.

I am using 4.1.2 . and what i use for the bottons are highlight bars from the shapes templates on DVDSP. I have it set to 1920x1080i. so i dont understand whats going on.

ok, is there anyone out there that has made a HDDVD and played it on a toshiba a2 with a menu made on motion? if so please let me know your work flow. i really appreciate it. thanks

no quick answers but a notion...
ditch DVDSP preferences and fix permissions...housecleaning.
Restart DVDSP and create a new project. Visit your preferences pane and verify all the settings are in alignment for HD projects.

THEN...
import the Motion menu. This is the only asset. Test this out. If this works then you have a questionable project file. It this does not work then pull a new Motion file or grab one from the tutorials just to verify DVDSP is managing these items properly.

Import in a new project the other assets of the original. Test this out.

What you are trying to do here is isolate whether your individual project file is bad or if you have a bad asset.

I am in the process. Let me clarify something. The motion plays out perfect I just can't see the highlights anywhere..I can't hear the audio either.

Ok, so I tried using one of DVDSP's template menus and it worked perfect? What am I doing wrong? What I am doing when I put in the motion menu is use highlight bars which are supplied by DVDSP and make it a botton, thats how I have always done it. Wat can possible be going wrong?

Also, make sure you have the latest firmware update for the Toshiba player!
Download it from Toshibas HD-DVD player website: make take time!

yup i got that already. thanks. basicly when i put a motion clip in the background of the menu the bottons dont work. but when i use one of the templates it works fine. so i really dont know whats going on.
