.pkg files

I wanted to download a program (neooffice) from the net and to install it on my drive. After succsesful downloading, the downloaded .dmg-file changed to a .pkg-file for installation and others. But if I try to open the .pkg-file I'm asked to choose a program for opening the file.

Steve, he has the .pkg, not an unmounted .dmg. There is no "white" drive icon for packages, they just launch. It should open with "Installer". Find it in Utilities. Try right clicking the package, and in "open with", select or navigate to Launcher.

If this fails, locate "com.apple.LaunchServices.plist", trash it, and restart.

Thank you Steve and scb for your tips.
I tried do run the NeoOffice.pkg-file with the i-installer, but it didn't work. In the Finder the efil is shown as a white paper with nothing on it, just a white paper.
If I try to run the file with the i-installer I cann't chose it because it is shown in light grey color. If I doubleclick the .pkg-file I'm asked to chose a program, but I cann't chose any program. Even the i-installer is shown in light grey color.
Have you some more idea?
Thank you very much.
