scx-4100 Samsung Priinter driver

I have read all of the backdated posts about using the 4500 and the 4200 drivers. However, I am not certain that those things ever worked for them. I saw no responses. I have tried them with my mini dual core intel and they have not worked. I have tried the postscript generics, the 4500 and 4200 and several of the other Samsung and types of drivers. I guess if all this did not work, am I up a creek.

Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Looking at the Samsung web site, this model uses SPL as a printer language, which I assume stands for Samsung Printer Language? It's most likely proprietary so it could explain why the other models of driver haven't worked - as they are sometimes written specifically for a particular model.

There is no Mac driver and there is no Gutenprint driver, but there is a Linux driver available. Not exactly sure what this consists of, and the Linux foundation hasn't given it a glowing review, but there may be a way to get this to work?

The other option may be to install Parallels and use the provided driver to print from Windows?

I will try setting those two systems up and let you know. However, I think that unless Samsung writes creates driver, I will be out of luck.

You have to read the entries in the OpenPrinting database with some care. There are a lot of user supplied listings that have not been verified. The listing for the Samsung scx-4100 is a user supplied entry. It has not been verified by anyone from the OpenPrinting.org and is not officially part of the foomatic database. I wish they would make it more obvious which ones have not been verified and are generally the report from only one individual.

These entries vary from being very accurate to an entry from a very disgruntled customer of some make and model. In the past, I had them remove one such entry from a disgruntled user that was filled with explatives.

Hi
I have a similar problem with a scx 4200 - It cannot connect to a Macbook Pro . it works as a printer but it is not possible to find a scan driver that works??

I would contact Samsung support. They are the one's that have indicated that the 4200 is MAC compatible. I guess even if I can find a print driver that works I won't be able to use the scanner aspect.

Thanks for all your help. I tried those and none worked. I guess I will just have a $200 paperweight. Though it does make copies.

Sorry we couldn't find a driver for you. Everything you tried exhausts all the "SPL" printer driver variants that we have drivers for at present on the Mac OS X platform.
