iTunes 11.1 doesn't recognize my iPhone 4s with IOS 7 - phone is charging by iTunes doesn't see it. Any suggestions?

I upgraded my daughter's iMac to iTunes 11.1 and now it doesn't recognize her iPhone 4s. The phone will charge and DropBox see's it but iTunes doesn't. Any suggestions? I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the software so that doesn't work. Thanks for any help!

After doing the 3rd further update on my iphone 4 thinking it would solve it... 3rd since this problem started, my mac book pro still doesn't recognize my iphone 4.... I have done all the normal things like reboot my machine (if someone else tells me to do that, I will scream)

I am going to have to wait until I am able to go to the store where I got my iphone in London and ask them to solve it.

I am pretty disgusted at Apple and it's inability to solve things or provide clear instructions on what to do.

As soon as I had done the .4 update on iphone, I checked for new software on my macbook... I am apparently uptodate on everything.... That has happened before... there was suddenly something on my macbook to update - I updated previously thinking it would solve it but it didn't...

I didn't scream :-)

Hey. I have an iphone 4 (not 4s)... and a Mac Pro.

According to both my iphone and my Mac Pro, all software is 'up to date' and latest itunes also in there....

This all began when I did the upgrade to IOS 7... my MP stopped recognizing my iphone... I did tests, including plugging in my friends iphone and my MP recognized his.

I have:

rebooted my machine about a million times

stripped my iphone and restored it (I had to back up onto the cloud)

done every update that my iphone has said available (the third one a couple of days ago relating to IOS 7).

done every update on my MP including at least two relating to Itunes since this drama began.

I am running out of options... and getting bored of the music on my 'Music' on my iphone...

SOLVED
I have spent so much time on this rediculous problem. Restarting my computer and iPhones (yes, plural), I made sure all software was up-to-date, I removed preference files, etc. and nothing worked. Until finally... I went to the standand iTunes download page on the Apple website (
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/), downloaded and installed the same (up-to-date) version already installed on my computer, and voilà, everything works again. I didn't even have to restart any devices, just iTunes (of course).

It doesn't make sense, but it worked. Hopefully this encourages you to try the same. Best of luck.

I have the exact same problem. Since 'upgrading' to iTunes 11 and iOS7 (though I DO like iOS7) my iPhone 4S will no longer sync with iTunes. It gets to step 5/6 and just hangs when determining tracks to sync. I have the latest versions of the software and a quite new MacBook Pro Retina so have the correct USB, it's just not syncing.

Have Apple broken something?

I truly hope this is the case with my phone. It's pretending not to recognise that it is plugged in (third party cable) however it will charge my phone when it is turned off and will sometimes charge my phone if I play swapsies with the charging unit and cables (third party cables and a switch between the original charger and or my mothers 5s charger).

By the way that its acting, for me it is definitely a software problem which makes sense because my phone started acting up after iOS 7.

As much as I love Apple, it seems to me as though their focus is now more toward impressive aesthetic capabilities as opposed to functional. The fact that so many people are having this problem is definitely saying something.

Now to go order an original cable. Fingers crossed that this will solve my problem.

iTunes 11.1 doesn't recognize my iPhone 4s with IOS 7 - phone is charging by iTunes doesn't see it. Any suggestions?
