Wall charger not charging iPhone

My wall charger was working, I plugged the usb cable into my computer, synced up, charged a while, then went back to the wall charger, and it isn't charging.

Tried resetting....wall charger is not hot or anything...all cables are secure....

iPhone still charges when attached to the computer.

Hopefully we can keep all the adapter/wall charger posts in one area for better impact...

In total we have 14 iPhones in our family-extended family.

So far my ac adapter has quit (replaced at Apple Store, no questions asked, Texas). Notified today that another adapter quit...back to the Apple Store again.

I now have a similiar problem/annoyance that Troy Verges above has, however my beeping didn't start until I used the new adapter...I estimate the beeping goes off about @ 15 minutes. My phone, when charging with the ac adapter, also randomly turns on (if I have it powered off)...will be asking at the Apple Store about THAT one also when taking the 2nd ac adapter back....

Hate feeling like a beta tester; thankful for the discussions forums 🙂

Same thing happened to me. It was working and now is not. The power had gone out and when I went back to charge my phone I thought a circuit breaker had tripped.
If I plug the USB cable in to my computer it works just fine. I have not had time to take it to the Apple store. It would be nice to be able to charge my phone without my computer hook up since my phone is so much a part of my life now.
I had bought a car charger - not an apple product - which didn't seem to work, so I got another model of charger and that works fine.

I also had the Apple iPhone USB wall charger stop working.

It was working fine until I decided to move it. When I unplugged it, it quit. Tried everything including staring at it intently for quite a while. Nothing.

Took it to the Apple store for a replacement and it worked fine there. Naturally.

Came home and plugged it in. Worked great until I decided to move it again. Then dead again.

This time I stared at it longer with that knowing look. I also flipped the plug blades up and down a bunch of time and removed and reinserted the plug piece.

Now it is working again.

I'm leaving on a trip so I'll have to unplug it again. We'll see, but something is definitely not right with it.

Mine has been dying off and on for about a week now. I took it to the Apple Store and of course it worked:( and they refused to replace it. Like I am going to drive 1 hour to replace a charger that already works fine....anyway we called apple today after it stopped working again and they agreed to replace it but wanted to charge 14 dollars to ship it...

They ended up shipping it for free...does anyone know if you have to sign for the package they ship it in????? I am going away on vacation.

Hi.

Depends on how they ship, but yes it is likely it will have to be signed for. Call them and ask if the tracking number is in your Itunes store account, depending on the shipper you can "unclick" or waive signature confirmation. But then, you are taking a risk if it is misdelivered or pilfered.

I suspect it is best (read: safest, belt and suspenders method) to install the cables and/or dock into a completely powered down iphone, then the wall-wart charger unit or some iteration, THEN and only then, plug the wall wart into a standard wall outlet. The charger "sees" a load immediately this way versus being unloaded. Inserting the USB cables while powered up might be enough to cause a brief short condition, what with all those tiny edge pin connectors. Is it a 20 pin connector?

One question - my eyes aren't the greatest anymore, I guess, so I'm finding it difficult to read the fine print on the wall wart - and I don't recall the spec sheet listing - is the wall wart universal 60Hz@120 and 50Hz@220 capable?

Add me to the list. Yesterday I synced for the first time in a long while and tonight when I tried to charge off the wall I'm not getting anything from the brick. Plugging the phone into my defective PowerBook still works though.

I'll take a trip to the local Apple Store during lunch tomorrow. Hopefully I get staff not in the mood for creative nonsense.
