Wall charger not charging iPhone

My wall charger was working, I plugged the usb cable into my computer, synced up, charged a while, then went back to the wall charger, and it isn't charging.

Tried resetting....wall charger is not hot or anything...all cables are secure....

iPhone still charges when attached to the computer.

The charger wasn't working again after I got home after my last post. I submitted this thread to digg and a fanboy commented that the wall charger issue was acknowledged by Apple as simply a display bug and that it's really charging but won't say so. To be thorough I left the iPhone plugged in overnight with the wall charger and it didn't add any charge to the battery.

I went to the local Apple Store today and received a replacement. The tech didn't bother testing mine. There was another iPhone being returned for sim card issues and he swapped the brand new charger out of that box.

Went to charge this AM and it was dead. I had another AC "brick" charger that I use at work, and it appears that the issue was with the brick itself as the cables worked fine. I called Apple and they are sending a replacement. They took my credit card info and will charge $1 if they don't receive the dead one.

The only thing out of the ordinary I can think of is; I usually trickle charge each night and have never really exhausted the battery. This past week, I let it run down to about 5% to "stretch it's legs". Not sure if it is at all relevant, just thought I'd mention it.

mine die after 1 moth of infrequent use. I went to an Apple store, was told that had to wait an hour or make a appointment to swap the AC adapter. it is kind of ridiculous that an appoint is needed for swapping an AC adapter. The GENIUS explained to me that he needs to do paper work and he had to help others that were waiting in line. The time he took to explain that to me could have completed the swap already. I was kind of upset cause I couldn't wait, and had to make another drive to the Apple store again another day. As I walked out of the store, I notice there are 10+ sales person wondering in the store, and only 2 GENIUS helping out people with problem.

I'm really glad I found this thread. I was beginning to wonder if I was crazy. I've been having the exact same symptoms as what is being described here.

I have two iPhone charging kits (I frequently commute between cities), and about two weeks ago, one of them simply stopped charging the iPhone--I had to plug the USB cable into my PowerBook and charge it that way. Yes, I tried every outlet, and yes, I was sure that the outlet had power. Since i bought it from the Apple Store, I was going to return the AC brick and swap it, but I saw that Apple charges a restocking fee if it's not defective, so on the last day of my 14 day return period, I tried it and it worked... now it seems ok. But then this week, my second AC brick stopped working, and it is still dead. I have to charge off my computer.

Going to take it to the Apple Store and see if they'll swap, but I'm not sure it will help if they are all defective. Apple: Please, PLEASE recall these things and fix them! I don't trust the iPhone charger enough to travel with it. If I don't take my PowerBook, and the AC brick fails on a trip, I'm going to be SOL.

Mine stopped working after 4 weeks of daily use. Called apple and they sent me a new one 2 days later. The new AC adapter didn't work either! Tried hard reset, restore, switching prongs, switching outlets, etc. Is it a phone issue? They are sending me a temp phone while I send mine in for them to look at. I gotta say though, I love Apple customer support. they rock.

I've had an interesting ecperience with the iPhone charger I would like to relate. It may contain a clue to the problem for the techs. My included USB charger works perfectly at HOME. In the past 3 weeks, I've stayed in 2 hotels. One in Florida and one in California. The AC charger would not work. My car charger (Griffin) worked fine. It also charged fine from a laptop using USB. This has been a real mystery to me. Any ideas folks?

My iPhone charges normally with the larger brick that came with one of my iPods however, it doesn't charge with the small one that came with the phone. The same thing happens when I try to charge my iPod.

I decided to measure the output of the larger iPod brick vs the smaller iPhone brick.

While the larger brick had a steady output at 5.2V, the smaller brick fluctuated rapidly between 4.3V and 4.8V.

As far as I know, USB specs require an output between 4.75V and 5.25V therefore I think that the output of the small iPhone brick is too low for both the iPod and iPhone to recognize it properly. I'll go back to the Apple Store tomorrow...

Any thoughts?
