iSync Conduit not visible in HotSync Conduit Manager

Hi,

I just received my brand new iMac Intel and I got problems to sync my Palm Tungsten E2

The iSync conduit is not visible in the HotSync Conduit Manager !

I'll appreciate any help,

Thanks

iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.10), Palm Desktop 4.2.1, iSync 2.4

If you are running Mac OS X 10.5, that's not possible: you cannot have the same problem, because you do not have the same version of iSync or the iSync Palm Conduit.

And, I don't yet have a replacement conduit available for iSync 3.

Did you upgrade from Mac OS X 10.4.9 or 10.4.10 to Mac OS X 10.5? Or, was it some other version? Was synchronization working properly before the upgrade?

What does your HotSync log say about the attempts so synchronize using iSync?

Okay, I got that. But I don't believe that you have the same issue as Mac OS X 10.4.9 or 10.4.10 users.

In order to isolate your problem, do this:

• open the HotSync Manager as if you were going to configure any conduit
• do you see a conduit named iSync Conduit listed?
• can you select that conduit and enable it by check the Enable iSync for this Palm device option?
• open the HotSync log
• what do the lines concerning your iSync activity state?
• do you see a NULL disconnecting message in that log?

Michael,

I've jumped over here from the previous thread where we'd been communicating ( http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5735161) since this seemed to be the more appropriate place to continue discussing iSync and Palm.

Did you see the successful HotSync log I'd sent previously from my Leopard upgrade installation? Has it been helpful at all?

Hi,

I've justed hooked up my new palm z22 to a mac mini running 10.5 and isync 3.0 and followed the instructions on the apple site for connecting the two (of course I didn't read these forums first 😟 ).

However, the thing worked a treat and my calander is syncing just fine between the two. The only problem for me is that what I specifically wanted to do is to sync between a calender hosted on an ical server and the palm. I can do this in one direction (i.e. remote cal to palm) but changes made on the palm aren't propogated back to the server.

I'm not sure if this makes me lucky or unlucky - I can sync but just not with the calender I wanted to.

Welcome to Apple Discussions.

I would be happy to send you one if only I had a conduit for Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.5.1. The replacement conduit I have available works only with Mac OS X 10.4.9 through 10.4.11, not any version of the recently released 'Leopard' operating system.

Even if you had a conduit, there are outstanding issues which do not allow iSync to simultaneously synchronize contacts, events and tasks. Some users are able to switch from Contacts to Calendars and synchronize one at a time, but others report that they cannot synchronize Calendars at all with a Palm device.

May report that synchronization with either results in information being transfered from a Macintosh desktop or portable machine to a Palm device, but that transfer does not take place in the other direction.

I will hold on to your message and send you the proper replacement conduit when it is available, but I do not have any idea when that will be.

As I explained in the message you replied to, the replacement conduit is ONLY for Mac OS X 10.4.9 through 10.4.11 - I do not yet have a replacement conduit available for use with iSync 3 and Mac OS X 10.5 or greater.

Generally speaking, the issues discussed in this thread have nothing to do with Mac OS X 10.5 or later, and the fix only deals with a limited set of circumstances which occur with iSync 2.4 under a release of Mac OS X greater than Mac OS X 10.4.8 but less than Mac OS X 10.5.
