Hello there Maninha,

This is what you should do to get rid of your Error 8008 problem:

Hey Wootmasta,

1) find your iTunes folder on your computer.
2) In your iTunes folder is a folder named "downloads".
3) In this folder, iTunes stores temporary files of your downloads in progress.
4) Double click this folder and you should see the names of the files/programs that keep coming up error -8008. They will be folders with a .tmp extension.
5) Go ahead and delete those defective files.
6) Then, that's when you to your iTunes account and "Check for Purchases".
7) Re-download your 2 episodes of Bones, this time it will be done properly.

Worked? 😉

Hi,
I tried to download the new episode of Burn Notice called End Run. Once it downloads 20 MBs it freezes and says itunes error 8008. The iTunes store has been anything but helpful, after I tried buying it again did they only vonunteer to refund my money in iTunes credit. I have deleted it from my downloads and tried it again - It did not work. I tried downloading it again on other computers (Windows & Mac) - It did not work. Please advise what to do. Should I buy it again? or should I wait before i do? I really want to see this.
Thanks,
dazmania

Just wanted to add my name to the list of users who are being affected by this issue. Have repeated 800 errors, I can guarantee that if i buy a TV series, at least two episodes (maybe more) will be corrupt.

Have contacted "Support" (LOL) on this issue several times, usual story, they tell you to do what you have already tried, then refund you for the affected episodes. This of course is totally useless, as how can you watch a series with episodes missing?

I have tried all the solutions proposed in this thread, no improvement. Guess I too must also look at other ways of getting my digital content. Strangely like a few others I have had this issue since the "upgrade" to Itunes 8, never before. What is most frustrating though is the way Apple take the default route to blaming the user, and dont acknowledge there may be an issue with their server service.

I've been getting error 8008 with Watchmen (Director's Cut). It stops somewhere around 1.8GB.

I have attempted to delete the downloads folder, restart iTunes, retry download. Same error in the same place.

I attempted downloading another file and it worked fine. I have never had any network problems.

I shall be trying a more extensive deletion process next, but I'm not holding out any hope here.

I'll know soon if it worked. What bugs me is that we had to learn how to do this from Vincent. Apple, why don't you put this in the help or FAQ? All you tell us to do is check for available downloads, and the catch 22 loop continues. I knew I needed to trash the bad download, but couldn't find it. Instead, I have to email support and wait 24 hours. Then, whoever gets my issue has to tell me what Vincent already knew. This is not efficient. Thank you Vincent for being there. Apple, not so much.

I have tried both successfully and unsuccessfully to delete the Downloads folder, and/or temp files when getting this error.

I have found that when deleting doesn't work, renaming the Downloads folder does. That is, I *rename the Downloads folder to DownloadsX or something like that*. I am not sure why this works, I guess it has something to do with not making the space occupied by the bad files (perhaps bad blocks?) available and forcing new blocks of space to be used when downloading again and creating the temp files.

Try this! After days of frustration trying everything else, this subtle difference worked for me.

Ahh..this is driving me nuts.
I have had this errorfor about up to 2 weeks.
And none of the solutions suggested have worked.
I have tried renaming the downloads file.
Deleting corrupted files restarting itunes then unchecking the box.
And deleting the files and pressing check available downloads.
None of these have been successful.
I need serious help with this.
Is there any other solution or has anybody heard back from iTunes?
