Have anyone experienced error 8008 after downloading tv shows? I downloaded 2 episodes of "Bones" and was only able to download half of each show...I tried several times by clicking on "check purchases" but I keep getting the same error...can anyone help please!!
This is what you should do to get rid of your Error 8008 problem:
Hey Wootmasta,
1) find your iTunes folder on your computer.
2) In your iTunes folder is a folder named "downloads".
3) In this folder, iTunes stores temporary files of your downloads in progress.
4) Double click this folder and you should see the names of the files/programs that keep coming up error -8008. They will be folders with a .tmp extension.
5) Go ahead and delete those defective files.
6) Then, that's when you to your iTunes account and "Check for Purchases".
7) Re-download your 2 episodes of Bones, this time it will be done properly.
8008 seems to be mac server or file issue. iTunes needs to improve their service in this area and have some sort of mechanism to detect errors either in their servers or file corruption.
I ran into the 8008 problem too. Tried deleting the temp file/folder, creating another user profile and jumping through a few other hoops that support recommended. Nothing worked. I just tried what D1sc0 recommended and that solved my problem:
Delete file from download queue in iTunes
exit iTunes
delete incomplete file folder from Downloads
delete file from recycle bin
run ipconfig/flushdns
change dns servers using opendns.com settings
okay i had the same problem with error 8008 for the movie, "i love you beth cooper". i already tried going to the downloads folder and deleting the corrupt file, but then it simply redownloaded and got me back to the same error 8008. can you please help me out?
hey there bluebeam, i tried renaming the 'downloads' folder to "downloadsX" or other names as youy suggested. it only made me redownload my movie, and then the same problem occurred, except i looked back to my iTunes music library, itunes had made another new folder named just 'downloads'.
There fixes don't work for me either, the file at apples is the culprit not my computer. I have deleted the suspect files again and again as per there instructions and they keep sending me the same fix.
The standard definition part of the file errors out at 440 megabytes downloaded exactly every time. and sets error code 8008. I can then delete the partially downloaded file and it does the exact same thing over and over. I have tried to download the same file from 3 different computers in 2 of them in a separate house and the file still errors out.
They need to stop regurgitating the same fix and listen to the customer!
The file has a problem on there server. PERIOD.
To any one else on Windows XP with download error: 8008
Delete file from download queue in iTunes
exit iTunes
delete incomplete file folder from Downloads
delete file from recycle bin
run ipconfig/flushdns
change dns servers using opendns.com settings
