Unable to pair with Bluetooth a Nokia N73 mobile phone

It's unable to pair via bluetooth a Nokia N73 mobile phone with the latest firmware installed.

Bluetooth Assistant of Leopard only detects on it only one feature: just to connect to internet.

iSync can't work with this mobile phone also.

This pone was supported on Mac OS X 10.4.9 and 10.4.10, so... it seems that is a problem with the Bluetooth frameworks on Leopard.

Anyone has experienced anything like this?

Regards,

iMac 20" 2.4 GHz., Mac OS X (10.5)

I've had a similar experience, with an N73 Music Edition. Firmware version is 4.0736.3.2.1, dated Sept 4, 2007.

For me, the BT Setup Assistant completes the pairing sequence, but then sits trying to check the phone for services, only to never complete the sequence. The only services that seem to be detected are Dialup Networking and OBEX File Transfer/Object Push.

On my wife's MacBook, her Nokia E50 was properly detected, and works with iSync using the Nokia-provided plugin. Of course, iSync claims to support the N73 (and reportedly it does work using a data cable, though I've not tried that just yet), but on the BT side, the service profiles the phone offers are not being properly detected.

Smells like the makings of a nice finger-pointing festival between Nokia & Apple, doesn't it? 🙂

I've had the same problem, with a Nokia N73 and the latest version of firmware (V 4.0735.3.0.2). When I insert the passcode on my phone, the "Continue" button of Bluetooth Assistant can't be clicked and I can't go ahead with the process. A friend of mine with 10.5 and a Nokia N73 with a previous version of firmware have tried to pair the phone and all works well.

Anyone have a solution?

Thanks

I can confirm that the problem is the newer firmware in combination with Leopard, I first upgraded to Leopard and all was fine between my N73 and my mac's (a Mini and a MacBook). After that I updated my firmware of my Nokia via my PC (I Bricked one when trying this from parallels) because I had some issues with the phone. They are resolved now.
I guess the problem is the support for stereo bluetooth that is in the newer firmware of the N73.
It seems Apple also introduced that in Tiger and these seem to be incompatible.

I just had a phone conversation with a Nokia N-series technician. He wasn't aware of the issue and neither was his collegue.

I told him about these threads at Nokia and Apple discussion forums and asked him to look at them.

He just told me that Nokia's Mac support is limited to releasing iSync plug-ins. I told him they're not much of help when you can't even pairt the phone.

He couldn't tell me anything about future firmware updates neither, just asked me to contact Apple regarding the issue...
