Unable to pair with Bluetooth a Nokia N73 mobile phone

It's unable to pair via bluetooth a Nokia N73 mobile phone with the latest firmware installed.

Bluetooth Assistant of Leopard only detects on it only one feature: just to connect to internet.

iSync can't work with this mobile phone also.

This pone was supported on Mac OS X 10.4.9 and 10.4.10, so... it seems that is a problem with the Bluetooth frameworks on Leopard.

Anyone has experienced anything like this?

Regards,

I also called Apple support about this issue. After a long wait and many redirects I was told that Apple has received also other complains regarding this issue, and that Apple is officially aware that this issue with N73 and Leopard exists.

What they couldn't tell was who's to blame for this issue - Apple or Nokia.

If anybody can confirm a working N73 firmware version with Leopard, it would be helpful. At least the newest (4.0736.3.2.1) doesn't work, and downgrading firmware is not possible.

I hope Apple and Nokia software engineers know the cause for this issue and party that is causing it, is working to solve it.

I am so annoyed. I have been using a plugin that made myself in tiger since 10.4.8 and it has worked fine. I just upgraded to leopard and at the same time did the nokia update (no reason, just happened to do them on the same day). Now I can't test which one is at fault.

Mind you at least I am not in the same position as the guy who didn't back up his address book. Thats gotta hurt!

It is good however that Nokia are starting to realise that not everybody owns a PC.

I just had a phone conversation with a N-series technician again.

Nokia is aware of the issue with latest firmware and 10.5, and there is a open case regarding problems with N73 and Leopard. I left my email address and hopefully I'm contacted as soon as the problem is solved.

Just call Nokia support and ask your email address to be listed to put some pressure on Nokia 🙂

Not sure what firmware version I'm running on my N73 but I had trouble synching my phone to iSync 3 on 10.5.1. After fiddling around with the phone, I got mine to synch. Here's what I did:

On the N73:
1) Go to Tools.
2) Go to Bluetooth.
3) Press joystick to the right to go to "Paired devices" tab.
4) Using joystick, move down to your list of devices and choose you Mac. Press the joystick button.
5) Choose "Set as authorised".
6) Confirm that you will allow this.
7) Trying synching device using iSync.

Hope that can help you guys.

I've got the same problem, but I think Leopard is the problem.
Or at least the OSX bluetooth driver.

When I use Windows XP in Fusion on my MacBook and I configure the bluetooth device with the bootcamp drivers, everything (Nokia software suite via BT) works fine!

My conclusion from this is that the N73 and the Apple hardware work fine and can communicate with eachother. So obviously some part of Leopard is to blame.

I have had a Nokia N73 (Music Edition) for nearly a year now and have used iSync with it for most of that time ... I last updated the firmware on my phone at the end of June, today I thought maybe it was time I did an update, I synced all my calendar entries and contacts with my Mac using iSync and then updated the firmware, once the update was finished I went back to my Mac to sync these things onto the phone but it now no longer works so the problem must be with the firmware on the phone (I am using v4.0736.3.2.1) and not to do with Leopard (I am using v10.5.1)

Wish I had checked this out before updating! Hope Nokia sorts this soon.

I updated my system and firmware in the opposite order. I have the N73 (Music Edition) and had updated the firmware to v4.0736.3.2.1 - all was working well with latest version of Tiger - could iSync over bluetooth. Then I upgraded to Leopard (10.5.1) last week and now I have the same problem that everyone else has - I can't pair them properly and iSync over bluetooth doesn't work. Thus, my experience along with Machieu's (previous post) suggests that it's really the combination of the latest firmware and Leopard that causes the problem...

Hope they figure out something fast...
