iPhone on O2 UK...

Hi Folks,

I understand a few of you seem to feel as if there is not enough information available.

Most info can be found on the O2 website.

Anyone who has any questions relating to the iPhone, feel free to ask...

I do currently work for O2, and i am fully trianed on the iPhone.

Please remeber: Any information i give is to the best of my knowledge, and no response by me is that of O2 UK.

The iPhone will be 'launched' from store's at 6. 02 pm.

U will have to be 18.

The shop will process your order, but activation f your iPhone will be done online by yourself.

With regards to EDGE, at the moment, although O2 has an EDGE network, O2 customer service do not have a tool to assess coverage.

This tool is expected to be in place by launch.

Any questions?

This part may answer a few questions:

If you end your contract during the 18 month minimum term, you may be required to pay the applicable monthly charge for your tariff until the end of the minimum term. This will not apply if your purchase a new iPhone from us, in which case you agree that a new 18 month minimum term will apply.

So if Apple bring out iPhone 2 in the UK next November, you will be able to buy the phone and start another iPhone 18-month contract, without any penalties.

See the Pay Monthly Tariff T&C's, under the heading Data:

+"You may not use your SIM Card in any other device, or use your SIM Card or iPhone to allow the continuous streaming of any audio / video content, enable P2P or file sharing or use them in such a way that adversely impacts the service to other O2 customers."+

I read this to say that I may not use the SIM card in any other device... in such a way that adversely impacts the service to other customers.

On that basis, I see no reason why O2 could complain if, on a night out, someone might put their iPhone SIM in a ropey old Nokia just so that they could receive calls and not worry about someone slopping a beer on the pride and joy.

I have an iPhone from the which I bought from the US.
Supposing it was presented to 02 in a completely virgin state ( eg not unlocked )
would it be possible to join the 02 network with a new 18 month contract and activate it with iTunes without any problems.

Obviously a new sim card would be required from 02. ( this is the only difference I see )

After all an iPhone has been bought from Apple and a new 18 Month contract is being sought from 02. Surely everyone is happy?

Surely O2 would be turning away business if this was not possible.

Thankyou for all the information you have patiently posted in this thread.

It's been reported that a queue is already started at the Apple Store Regent Street.

I thought I saw on here that the O2 stores will be closed from a certain time but can't find it, can anyone confirm again. Tried calling my O2 store but no answer.

It all makes sense now.

The pictures of the staff in the US Apple stores waving their hands in the air and giving people high-fives as they skip on their way to buy the iPhone... At first I thought it was the awful American way of doing these things (apologies to our US friends, but it isn't really the British way). Now I realise they are merely looking for an excuse to waft away the body odour from the die hards who have been festering on the pavement outside the store for over 24hrs!

BTW, it may have been me who mentioned about the O2 stores shutting down. I was told they were shutting from either 2pm or 4pm (sorry, can't remember).
