iPhone on O2 UK...

Hi Folks,

I understand a few of you seem to feel as if there is not enough information available.

Most info can be found on the O2 website.

Anyone who has any questions relating to the iPhone, feel free to ask...

I do currently work for O2, and i am fully trianed on the iPhone.

Please remeber: Any information i give is to the best of my knowledge, and no response by me is that of O2 UK.

The iPhone will be 'launched' from store's at 6. 02 pm.

U will have to be 18.

The shop will process your order, but activation f your iPhone will be done online by yourself.

With regards to EDGE, at the moment, although O2 has an EDGE network, O2 customer service do not have a tool to assess coverage.

This tool is expected to be in place by launch.

Any questions?

o2iPhone,

I just wanted to say thank you for setting this up. I appreciate you taking the time.

On that note... does anyone know why Apple has 9.42 am as the designated time in all the iPhone videos, commercials and photographs? What's the deal?

Don't know any reason for that!

Surprisingly though, although our O2 Store is open to the public, there is not a sole queued for the iPhone launch...

In all fairness though, prectically nobody actually realises we have a store here, and presume its just a big office block! lol

Ok, so I went again to O2 and CWP while having a visit to regent Street to see the queue.

This is the story I got from each - I am a current O2 customer with the CPW:

O2 shop: No need to do any PAC or porting - you are with O2, even though via the CPW; You can transfer your number over yourself

CPW: You don't need a PAC, but you will need an Authorisation code, which will require two extra steps on the iTunes registration (write it down cos you will need to use it twice).

02 customer services (by phone): You will need a PAC, but we will not be giving them out - you will get a generic one, with temporary number with your purchase, except if you buy at the Apple Store (which is where I wanted to, for sentimental reasons)

O2 customer service (yesterday), call tomorrow and we will give you a PAC number.

Thoughts?

What would happen during the porting process -c an I keep my number active on my old phone until the 5-7 day porting or what?

*PLEASE - read through previous questions and answers, as i seem to be repeating a few.*

*This is not the correct thread to ask about any future devices, i have no info on this, this thread is aimed at people interested on the iPhone, on O2.*

Here's a quick summary:

Eligibility

*Existing O2 Customers* If you are an O2 customer or upgraded on or before 18th September 2007, you only have to pay cost of handset.

If you joined or upgraded after 18th of September 2007, you can start a new iPhone contract by paying a one-off transfer charge of £219 instead of the remaining monthly charges on your existing contract.

iPhone is only available on standard consumer 18 month tariff, no business offers or Prepay. No sim free option either.

Handset must be used with an iPhone sim.

AT&T (Locked US) and Unlocked handsets will NOT be supported by O2.

You get a 12 month warranty from Apple with the handset.

*Keeping your number* If you are an existing O2 Customer (Not CPW), you will be asked for your number during the activation process, no pac required.

All other, PAC is required i.e. Vodafone, Three, Orange etc.

You do get a temporary number while you wait on your number transferring.

If you have no PAC at point of activation, this can be requested at a later date.

Data - The handset will use either WiFi, or EDGE/GPRS. Unlimited Data does mean it is! No Fair use Policy. EXCEPTION is The Cloud does have a fair use policy. Please see T&C's.

WiFi - You can use The Cloud WiFi hotspots. The handset will also pick up WiFi from your own or unsecured routers.

EDGE/GPRS Your handset will revert to this if no WiFi is available. From experience, you should get EDGE most of the time, when no WiFi is detected.

Tariffs - You can choose from 1 of the 3 iPhone tariffs available. These can be changed at later date. No other tariffs will be offered, regardless of how long a customer has been with us.

Tariffs include ITS (International Traveller Service) Free.

Call charges are that of standard O2 Tariffs.

Update with more details shortly.
