iPhone on O2 UK...

Hi Folks,

I understand a few of you seem to feel as if there is not enough information available.

Most info can be found on the O2 website.

Anyone who has any questions relating to the iPhone, feel free to ask...

I do currently work for O2, and i am fully trianed on the iPhone.

Please remeber: Any information i give is to the best of my knowledge, and no response by me is that of O2 UK.

The iPhone will be 'launched' from store's at 6. 02 pm.

U will have to be 18.

The shop will process your order, but activation f your iPhone will be done online by yourself.

With regards to EDGE, at the moment, although O2 has an EDGE network, O2 customer service do not have a tool to assess coverage.

This tool is expected to be in place by launch.

Any questions?

Things I noticed with my iPhone so far:

Visual Voicemail does not work, if you dial your mobile number say from your landline phone, phone rings as normal then after about 7 rings your get O2 message saying, "call is being diverted", she says this about 3 times then you get BT message saying "Sorry there is a fault, please try again."

Still no option for making your own Ringtones in iTunes, I thought we were supposed to be getting this

The blue E symbol for EDGE network sometimes turns to a solid blue square on mine, what's that mean, does it mean No EDGE signal or GPRS signal only?

How is Cloud Wifi going to work, there was nothing in the iPhone box saying how to access the Cloud network, does the phone log on to it automactially once it finds a Cloud signal? Not been to a Cloud hotspot yet just wondered if any one else has

Anyone else finding problem or having queries with their iPhone?

Did you ring 1750 (free) to activate your voicemail?

Hi,
The solid blue square means the phone has gone onto GPRS. Full details of all symbols available here in the guide:

In relation to the cloud wifi, the articles i have seen explain that the first time you hit a cloud wifi hotspot the login page for the cloud will appear on the iPhone. You are asked to enter some details and your phone number so it can check you have a valid iPhone & number and then it will save the details away. It should then automatically flick onto the cloud everytime you hit a hotspot in the future.

*No Ringtones in your iTunes? Go to iTunes, Preferences, General Settings and enable it.*

I notice a few people saying that they don't have and option to make ringtones on iTunes as yet - it is in the current release and has been for some time, you just have to enable it. Go to your iTunes Preferences settings, General settings and tick the Ringtones option

I may be wrong, but I think what people are saying is that there appears to be no songs in the iTunes store available to convert to a ringtone.

I have the ringtone column in my iTunes (the bell), and would assume that there would be a tick or x against the songs that I could create a ringtone from.

Thanks for that info andy, At least I know what a solid blue square means now.

Will have to find a Cloud Hotspot to try 🙂

Below is how you are supposed to make Ringtones, It's just that no bell icons appear next to any of my songs & all of them have been downloaded from iTunes.

Have send feedback to iTunes asking if UK users is getting Ringtones, though doubt they will reply.

"Here's how to create a new ringtone:

Select a ringtone-eligible song from your iTunes Music library. Eligible songs are indicated with a bell icon () next to the song name. If you do not see the bell icon on any songs, choose View > View Options, and make sure the Ringtone checkbox is checked.
Click the bell icon next to the song name, or choose Store > Create Ringtone. The Ringtone Editor appears at the bottom of the screen.
Adjust the highlighted area to choose your preferred segment of the song (up to 30 seconds). You can also fade the ringtone in or out.
To change the gap between rings, choose an option from the Looping pop-up menu. Click Preview to hear your ringtone before purchasing. Once you're satisfied with your ringtone, click Buy.
Sync your iPhone to iTunes."
