EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS) iTunes crash

I have recently upgraded to Leopard 10.5.1 and also upgraded my itunes to 7.5 and it is crashing on application opening with an error report:-

Exception Type: EXC BADACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN PROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000005
Crashed Thread: 0

I have tried cleaning the preferences folder which allows me to open the application but this seems only a temporary fix and also when itunes does open it performs and error every time i try to burn a cd.

This is really causing me some stress so any help would make my day, month and rest of year!!!

I'm getting the same problem with a new Mac Pro, Leopard 10.5.2 and Sims 2.
All I've actually done is turn on the new machine, install Mac OS from the packaged DVD (so I can repartition the disc more sensibly), install the updates and then Sims 2 (up to Bon Voyage). And it crashes every time with:

Exception Type: EXC BADACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN PROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000000
Crashed Thread: 0

The crashing thread calls:

14 com.apple.HIToolbox 0x9614efc3 DispatchEventToHandlers(EventTargetRec*, OpaqueEventRef*, HandlerCallRec*) + 1181

before going into 13 method calls within com.aspyr.TheSims2 whereupon it crashes.

I had a similar "Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGBUS) error" with a new 20" iMac. The problems typically occurred with Safari and Firefox, but I would also see errors with Mail and other apps. If I would reboot the computer, the problems tended to correct themselves, but they would often reoccur within 5-10 minutes. I installed some software at the time that the problems started, but another thing that I installed was additional RAM, replacing the 1GB default RAM with 2x2GB SoDimm (3rd party 'compatible' RAM: Patriot PSD24G667SK). The new RAM seemed to work well, and was 'operating properly' under Hardware Properties, so I concentrated on software solutions to the EXCBADACCESS (SIGBUS) conflicts. However, uninstalling/reinstalling software did not help. Finally, I re-installed the original Apple memory and the problems disappeared. I'm a victim of the WIndows XP wars, and relatively new to the Mac, so it's not clear to me if this issue was caused by bad (or incorrect) RAM, or some other software conflict with the hardware.

Since I have upgraded to 10.5.2 Microsoft 2004 Excel no has the same message. I created a new user and no problem. However, I don't know how to use excel from the new user as the application I use is in the old user and when I tried to copy it from one user to the other the other application wouldn't work. SO I have excel working fine, in the wrong place.

What might it be that is stopping it from working in the normal user - ie me! It seems to crash when it gets to loading Visual Basic for Applications.

*I FIXED THIS ON MY COMPUTER!*
When you create a new user account on the computer and log in under that name, the problem should go away. I've found that this means the error is in the permissions file on your usual login.
You have to set the access rights so that you can get to that Permissions folder when you're logged back in to your normal account. Once you have that set, log back on as usual and overwrite your permissions folder with the permissions folder from the user you recently created. Reboot, and when you log back in as usual, the problem should be fixed.

I have the same crash just opening the newly installed iTunes

Exception Type: EXC BADACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN PROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000008
Crashed Thread: 7

I tried creating a new user and the new user still had the same crash opening iTunes.

Safari crashes sometimes too when opening Mail.live.com and trying to download the iTunes.dmg
