iTunes 7.6 problems

I upgraded to iTunes 7.6 today. Now when I try to access the iTunes Music Store, iTunes hangs in the middle of accessing the store. It becomes completely unresponsive. Not even a force quit works to kill it, so far I have only been able to restart the system to make the program quit. I will see if I can find the process and kill it with a kill -9, but to this point version 7.6 appears to not be able to access the iTunes store on my computer. Anyone else with this issue?

Sounds to me like Apple may have released some software that wasn't quite ready yet. Wouldn't be the first time, but usually they are better than this.

I have batteling this beast since I downloaded it when I was directed to to a new iTunes update. I am not going into how much time I have wasted and my frustration in dealing with iTunes 7.6 but I am greatly displeased with Apple at this time. So, I want to go back to iTunes 7.5 but cannot and I get an error saying something about iTunes library being configured by a newer version of iTunes so I cannont reinstall 7.5. Anyone know any hacks or any solutions? I need a solution as iTunes and my iPod are now borderline non-functioning.

I am having problems as well with the update. All seems to work well on the Mac other than the f12 to eject the CD tray brings up a weird screen to print an album cover... Not sure where that is even coming from. Also yesterday I tried to purchase an album... My bank account shows 5 1$ entries and I never got the album as I continually got the error accessing the Itunes store... All in all the most problems I have ever had with Itunes.

I just installed 7.6 and I am also having problems but I haven't been able to find anyone on here who is experiencing the same problem. I subscribe to a digital music retailer called eMusic, and iTunes won't play the samples you can listen to before purchasing. Clicking on the downloaded file opens iTunes but nothing plays. If I purchase the full songs, those play just fine. It's not on eMusic's end because I asked a friend to test it and he's not having any trouble. But he hasn't upgraded to 7.6 yet. I've never had this problem until literally a couple of hours after I upgraded. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any suggestions? I tried repairing the permissions and no change.

I'm having the same kinds of problems: iTunes hangs while playing songs. The clock and progress thing stop, no output at all, and then suddenly it'll pick up two thirds of the way through the song. Well, if I'm lucky. Sometimes I don't even get to hear the song.

Could this be a problem with the Quicktime upgrade that accompanied the iTunes upgrade? I haven't tried playing any movies yet.

Cool, I just found by unplugging my external speakers and then plugging them back in iTunes will play for about 5 seconds before cutting out again. Now, if I want to do that the rest of the day, I'm set.

I'd like to add my voice to the chorus of discontent.

AFter my itunes start bugging out after the recent upgrade, I asked a guy at the Genius Bar at my local Apple STored for his help. He suggested rebuilding permissions (which means restarting from the Install Disk and using Disk Utilities and takes about ten minutes). Disk Utility did turn up a fair # of bad permissions relating to iTunes.
When I restarted, iTunes worked briefly, then started freaking out again. I rebuilt once more. Temporary solution.
I thought I set things off when I tried to buy an album from the iTunes Store. Could the store be the problem or is it just the first thing most folks try when they get this new upgrade? I have also found that when I update my podcasts and then my ipod things are slow and intermittent and the app appears to crash but then reurns to lfe after a long while.
Whatever the issue, I agree - APPLE NEEDS TO FIX THIS BUG SOON! (though no one at the Apple Store reported having heard that there was a problem with iTunes so be prepared for a wait.)

Danny

PS It seems impossible to report a bug on this problem as the usual "Report a Problem" thingee doesn't show up. Does anyone know if Apple will hear our wailing and gnashing of teeth?

I installed the update 7.6 and then now when I go to close the application it freezes and then I have to do a control Alt Del and it shows application not responding so I click End Task and then itunes 7.6 keeps restarting so I have to restart Windows to prevent itunes from restarting. I have unistalled this program with the same outcome so at this time I can no longer use this program until apple fixes this problem. Thanks Apple you were the ones that said I needed to update to the new version.
