MMS/ Picture Messaging

Does the new iPhone support MMS??? If no, WHY? This is a normal function that all phones being produced in our world of technology have. I have a original iPhone that I purchased almost a year ago. And when the warrenty is up, I'm just thinking about getting a blackberry. Just because the iPhone does not support normal fetures. What are the pros and cons if I do this? Also, if i chose to go with another type of phone, will I still be able to use the iPod part of the iPhone?

Shouldn't have taken more than one sentence. Someone at Apple will note the message, see that it asks for MMS, and do a +1 in the database. Any information you included on why the alternatives are not desirable, etc., will just be ignored.

If you do a search of the discussions someone posted a thread from a week ago regarding AT&T supposedly considering an "old" technology (2005) where if someone sends you an MMS if will convert it to a clickable link that would open Safari and then the picture.

I'm not an Apple apologist - I purchased a device that meets my most important needs and wants. If the iPhone didn't meet my most important needs and wants, I would not have purchased one in the first place. That doesn't make me an apologist - telling someone they should purchase a device that meets their most important needs and wants. It makes me practical, and the best practical way to get the point across to Apple is by not purchasing an iPhone in the first place. If the sales figures dropped substantially for these reasons, you can bet that Apple would be more likely to make changes. Not guaranteed, but more likely. Purchasing one anyway in the hope that Apple will add a feature at some point - especially a missing feature that I'm so very annoyed about is not the best way to go IMO. And if I was "righteously annoyed", the last place I would express it would be at a user to user help forum for technical support issues and questions. You are whining and ranting to fellow users only, which won't accomplish squat. And if I were so "righteously annoyed" with any product, I wouldn't purchase the product in the first place, and I darn sure wouldn't keep it for long had I not known about what was now "righteously annoying" to me. What if Apple doesn't add any of the features you are so "righteously annoyed" about - you plan on remaining that way when there are plenty of other devices to choose from that include the features you need or want and that wouldn't make you so "righteously annoyed"?

I never said because I don't need or want or have never used a feature, that you or anyone else doesn't need it either. I only said I couldn't care less about MMS, but if I did care so much about it - it was something I used on a regular basis and I was so "righteously annoyed" about not having it, the iPhone would be the last device I would purchase or keep.

You don't have to get on your hands and knees and beg Apple to read your feedback, but providing feedback to anyone in a constructive manner is always the best way. If someone comes to you with a complaint about something you are doing or not doing, you are more likely to listen and give the feedback provided more consideration if provided in a constructive manner.

Email is older than MMS, so that isn't really a valid point. Besides that, MMS is extremely widespread in the current market, and so it is a bit silly not to include it just for easy backwards compatibility with other phones.

As far as feedback not reading messages, that is a shame. That means that the feedback form is nothing but a show, and they have no interest in actually receiving feedback.

APOLOGIST: "a person who argues to defend or justify some policy or institution."

Why are you wasting your time arguing with me if you are not an Apple apologist? Also, just because it is missing features I would like to have, doesn't mean that I don't like the device in spite of its flaws. There is nothing wrong with purchasing a device and then bothering the company to add more features that are present in its competitors devices.

I was hoping that some people on the support forum might have some information as to why Apple and AT&T are so vehemently opposed to supporting certain features, but I suppose I should have expected the amount of vitriol I received instead.

Where did I say they don't read feedback? They do and then someone has to sort through them and add them to a database and pass on any technical information necessary. But opinions and "logic" on why the iPhone should have MMS, it is essential, all other cell phones have it, the workarounds don't work, etc., fall into the area of policy and that is going to get trimmed and not passed on as it really is irrelevant.

I'm not clear on why you are mentioning that email is older than MMS, I can't find anything where I said it wasn't. If you will search the threads for the post I was referring to it doesn't concern email.

I'm sure coming here today you probably are sure you came up with something brand new that nobody here, or at Apple, or AT&T has considered about MMS, and if you have please share it with us, but I sincerely doubt it. After 19 months of "MMS" posts we've seen it all.

The old email remark was in regards to AT&T considering MMS old tech. So my point is that email is even older, and so the age of a method of communication is not relevant to whether it should be implemented or not.

I actually came to this forum to try and find some answers, but instead all I got were people acting as apologists for Apple's policies. I am still not sure what interest they have in defending Apple's decisions.

It is a shame that logic and opinions aren't considered by Apple. That doesn't really mesh with the image I had of the company.

From your post...

"If you do a search of the discussions someone posted a thread from a week ago regarding AT&T supposedly considering an "old" technology"

My reply about email was meant to be somewhat tongue in cheek, but I guess it didn't come across that way.

I'm not going to bother typing everything I sent them (pretty much the obvious stuff about MMS, but I went on to talk about the other features that I would like and why), suffice to say, I am disappointed that they only count the amount of requests for something without regard for why they are requested. I doubt seriously if one persons voice will have an impact on the outcome anyway, as it just seems like Apple and AT&T are simply being obstinate about certain features without really caring how many people want them.
