iPhone will not sync to Outlook 2007 after 2.0 & iTunes 7.7 update!
I've searched for answers everywhere and have found nothing! It shows thats it's syncing my contacts and calender but when I open Outlook nothing has changed. Please help!
No there is no way to downgrade your iphone software. I would submit a feedback request on that, so next time apple releases software that is VERY buggy that people have the option to rollback.
I suspect this update/app store was date driven and the software released wasn't ready for the public yet. When will companies learn to release the software when its ready and not just by a date. This is the first horrible update in a long time. I guess I'll go back to not grabbing the update right away and seeing if they released it buggy or not.
Tried to remove iTunes 7.7 from PC and upload iTunes 7.6.2.9 Got a message that a library file was created by newer version of iTunes so 7.6.2.9 could not open. Any way anyone can suggest to simply undo these updates until the programmers at Apple (who generally rule) can get this fixed?
So now I am really, really cross. I had not noticed before, but after my 4 hour session with the very kind and patience applecare man who tried all thigns to help me, all my August and onwards appointments, reminders etc are wiped except those which are recurring from earlier. And I don't know how to get them back. I expect they are all wiped for good. I wish I'd never tried to sync this wretched thing! This really stinks.
This issue was with iPhone 1 as well. I returned my iphone 1 because they have no fix. I have read that an old fix may be related to removing recurring appoinments with no specified end dates. I never tried it. Still searching for an answer.
I hear what you're saying. I've tried so many of Apple's suggestions I lose count now. But on one of their suggestions (something about re-setting and re-syncing), all my contacts were double entried into my Outlook and all my recurring meeting notices were screwed up. I had to manually go back in and fix every single one of my contacts and calendar entries.
I....am....boiling.....hot.....livid right now. Fix this already Appple.
Hanley please email me jeff (at) neeseproducts.com when you figure it out. This issue was true 3 months ago with version 1. I returned my iPhone at the time. Now with my 3G same problems. The posts from months ago talk about certain feild not being populated and iTunes not knowing what to do with it. I remember they talked about recurring appointments with no end date as the main problem.
I have wasted many hours, creating new .PST files, Exporting importing etc. last evening the Sync took 7 hours and my .PST grew from 300Mb to 5Gb, and it still didn't work!
I think we have to wait until Apple release a fix.
This totally *****! The last time I tried to sync it wiped out EVERYTHING on my iPhone calendar and now it just won't work. I don't have hours to spend tweaking and deleting months worth of appts! But I depend upon having my calendar with me so that I can keep my commitments.
Since I CANNOT be without a list of my appointments, I've signed up for Google calendar and it sync'd beautifully with my Outlook calendar. Now all I have to do is open a web page on my iPhone and there's my calendar. Thank you, Google!
That's great that Google calendar works on the above solution. But for me, that won't work. It's extra steps that shouldn't have to be done. Apple sold us a product that they said syncs correctly between the iPhone and Outlook calendar. Keep your promises Apple and fix this problem.
I'm having similar problems, I've tried syncing each item seperately to see where the problems are.
Contacts - will sync but takes forever
Calender - Will not sync, acts like it is but after a long time it completes and nothing is changed, in addition the last time I tried my calender was erased from the phone entirely. I have tried exporting to a CSV and reimporting without recurring events, but still no luck getting it on the phone at all.
Bookmarks - will not sync, acts like it is but never completes and I have to cancle the sync
Music - Syncs fine, no difference from before the update
Photos - Sync fine, no difference from before the update
Apps - Sync fine, no speed issues
I certainly hope this gets resolved soon, for business purposes haveing my calender with me and up to date is essential.
Having come in late to this thread I did not try anything mentioned before the fix from Adam other thana selecting "selected calendars only" I had entered test appointments on the iphone3g anad they did not sync to Outlook 2007 day/month view, but were in "All appointments". From OL to phone was fine. I tried adam's fix anad just entered one reaccuring event for next monday at a week interval and then synced. The reoccuring appointment arrived in all views. I then added a non-reaccurring event and that also appeared in all views. I was abale to delete the original reaccuring event and add other "normal" events and everything is syncing both ways. I have not lost any previous data doing this. I then switched itunes back to "all calendars" and everything is still ok. Closing and opening Outlook didn't stop it working either!
I have tried all the recommendations on this thread. Sadly, none work. We shouldn't even have to struggle through fixes. The whole point of Apple and iPhone is to be simple and elegant AND RELIABLE to use. Again, Apple fix this and provide an update on timing.
I just wanted to add my experience to this list - I'm having the same problem. After the upgrade to firmware 2.0, I can't create an event on the iPhone and sync it to Outlook. This is, obviously, an essential feature, and one that worked perfectly under the old iPhone firmware. Very disappointing.
Apparently with the 2.0 upgrade you can sync to many Outlook calendars, not just one. If you try to sync to only one, items disappear from the Outlook calendar though are retained in the "all appointments" view. If you add another calendar, everything seems to work. On the iphone, make sure to set calendars to look at All Calendars and you should see all appointments. This also stops Outlook from deleting the appointments on the screen.
Secondary calendar appointments have different colors on the iphone than primary calendar events so if you "categorize" appointments in Outlook, the colors may not match up. Overall, there's a problem, but so far, after hours of trial and error, this seems to be working and it's bi-directional.
