Roll back to 4.9, problems, 5.0 is a disaster!

I foolisly cliked yes to the upgrade to 5.0. There are multiple problems with this and I dont know why Apple subjects us to them. I cannot waste time with it. The worst problem is with my Linksys wireless router, it now does not work. So no internet support, I am doing this from work! There are other problems too, just read this forum. I re-insatlled 4.9 off a disk but it wont open cause "library is made with newer version"
Please can some-one give me clear instuctions on how to fix this problem, so I can use 4.9 which worked fine with NO PROBLEMS. This is ridiculous. I think this solution must be here somewhere, but cant seem to find it!
Bottom line.....DONT upgrage, it not worth it at all!

I also had problem with 5.0 I lost my itunes and all the songs in my computer. Not in my desktop and when I access it through the program. Is there a way to for me to just install 4.9 which is very reliable? How do I get the disk? I am sure it is no longer accessible as a download option; and does this means I have to start from scratch building my music library? Anybody who read this....Try to stick to 4.9 and not upgrade to 5.0. It is a total disaster!!

Too late I bought it already.I am determined to fix this but need internet access at home. I think you are right "cant get from the router to the internet". I am going to bypass the router and plug the cable straight into the cable modem, like I used to before we moved the desk away form the cable outlet. Have had ongoing problems on and off. Now its an even worse disaster with virtually no access. I have spent hours with Linksys support (which actually is very good).

I still am in a total state of dis-belief that Apple can actually release sofware like this!

Having gone through a number of steps, I now find that it's the Apple Bonjour software included with iTunes that screws up the router. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way to install 5.0 without Bonjour.

Personally, no matter what I have tried I can now no longer install 5.0 or re-install 4.9. So I'm at the mercy of Apple right now and can only hope that they offer a solution quickly.

I am having problems with my ipod synching with my itunes on 5.0. I keep getting the error msg "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software." I used all four of the support options for this problem and none of them work. Itunes 5.0 is no good and I did the same as everyone else and tried to go back to 4.9 with the same problems. But what does work is going back to 4.8...Go to www.filehippo.com and you can get itunes 4.8. That is the only solution for now.

Hey thanks b_noir.

I was begining to despair. I am now at home with my 75ft Ethernet Cable so that I go online to read support. My Linksys Router is cold and dark (off) for now. I will return to it at later date when I am brave and have a day or two to waste.

I am running v4.9 now. I tried to re-instal my old library but it was wrong, with no playlists etc !??? Go figure. So I have just imported all the folders with my songs on them. So only thing really lost are a few playlists. It seemed to work with the other users on this machine thier libraries are intact.
I wont upgrade to v5 untill it v5.5 and there are NO problems on this forum.

Thanks Apple for some time wasted and few new grey hairs....ykes.

Thnks b_noir again, for rushing to my help.

Like many other fools, I clicked on the 5.0 upgrade, and now the 4.9 is gone, along with my 6,000 songs. What in the world is Apple doing when they create a new version that absolutely doesn't work, yet it destroys a version that was working perfectly? ARE YOU APPLE GUYS LISTENING AND WHEN CAN WE EXPECT A WORKING VERSION????? I am disgusted with Apple's skills with Windows PC's. Don't they realize that 95% of the world uses Windows? Bob Ells
