iPhone 3G Lag is intolerable! Video examples included.

I don't have any of these problems on my 3G. Contacts opens fast, no crashes (I have about 15 apps installed). It's the inconsistency that's worrying - if no-one was working OK, it would be easier to pin down the cause

i know that this has nothing to do with this topic. but i didnt feel the need to post a new topic. my phone says capacity 14.64gb
why is that?shouldnt it say 16gb?

Sad to hear about the situation! I know most people will ignore this message or flame it but here goes.

Could you please be a little more specific about your situation, ie What apps have you installed, what do you sync with (mac or pc), how much memory is left on the device. If resetting works even only temporarily please don't say "it doesn't work", say, resetting works, but when I do xyz it slows down again.

If we do this then we will begin to narrow down exactly what is causing the specific problem and it is much more likely to get fixed that way.

However heres a hint. It is to do with how memory is counted for advertising purposes and how it is actually counted.

This combined release (iPhone 3G + 2.0 update + iTunes + MobileMe+ Appstore) is definitely a rollout that Apple will want to forget, and something that many customers will remember for a long time. It has gone so badly that even the fanboys don't seem to have the voice to defend Apple.

Enough said.

I have a 2g and 3g phone with the same problems. Go into Settings - Fetch New Data - Advanced and change at least your contacts to MANUAL. I have my calendar sync off and mail set to fetch instead of push and got my speed back. But noticed the biggest speed bump with the contacts changed to MANUAL.

I'm experiecing the lag times and crashes as well. I have submitted several bug reports for various issues I've noticed.

Deffinately a Big Problem

Me either. Clearing the Safari Cache speeds mine back up for some odd reason, but after a bit of texting or surfing it comes right back. It even gets so bad it takes a few minutes to disconnect from my handsfree in the car after I get out - I was all the way in a store the other day from the parking lot an it still had the handsfree screen up. It also affects the ability to even answer an incoming call - the phone will be ringing and I slide to answer it and it has taken so long to actually answer the call that the caller gives up and gets voicemail and the phone finally says a missed call. I have the old iPhone original but the 2.0 update and have experienced this problem since 20 minutes after the update. I reported it to apple but knowing them and past history with iPhone updates it should be fixed sometime around Christmas.

Try turning off push for your email/address book/calendar. Everytime you launch one of those apps, it has to check with mobile for updates. I still doubt that is the problem, though.

Ditto Ditto Ditto Ditto. VErrrry disappointing; also had to do a complete reset today a apple logo froze under normal operation. Also -- we need a "backup "checkbox option to do it manually. it takes HOURS when you have a lot of apps. They shoulldn't have to be backed up if they're on the computer.


Pleeeeze Apple - listen to us ASAP.

PS How ------ is it that app memory space doesn't show up on graphic memory space line; how do we know if we're near maxed out of mem????
