iPhone 3G Lag is intolerable! Video examples included.

We are a couple of swedish guys that have been talking about the Iphone 3G since we bought it and then we started to compare the old phone and the new and everyone had extreme problems in lag in the interface on the Iphone 3G compared to the 1st Gen Iphone. So we decided to make a video so people can really see and compare.

This lag that people are having is not the only problem but is followed by Applications crashing, OS is freezing, safari going haywire. touch not responding.

Also ive gotten info that upgraded 1st Gen Iphones that have updated to 2.0 is getting the same lag.

1st video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE7HKFcQxoI
2nd video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DL7n9Vo7mJw&
3rd video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLoAWRU0mHE&NR=1
Anyone who can reproduce this?

As an exclusive Blackberry user for years I ventured into the Iphone world with the new release of 3G in Canada. The combination of the massive wait times between apps loading and typing etc...as well as fetch email not working for me or working intermittenly at best, not being able to delete batches of emails at the same time but rather having to go through them 1 at a time, and a variety of other reasons has made me very eager for the release of the new Blackberry Bold due out this month. I have ordered a replacement iphone from my service provider which should arrive in time for me to give it one more try with the new phone and then I'm back to Blackberry.

Not sure how this will end up playing out but something tells me I should have never made the switch. If it aint broke...don't fix it and Blackerry definately aint broke.

Agree with you.

Blackberry is a really great email device with a handsfree, voice dialing phone (and multimedia added as an "extra").

The iPhone seems to be an iPod with a phone added.... and the latter bit is not up to scratch yet.

Wish I didnt have to carry two lumps in my trousers though & I do love the iPod part! Until then I am sticking to BB for business.

Marketing specifies capacities in Gigabytes while software usually specifies it in Gibibytes (although they still label it Gigabytes since most consumers have no idea between the difference between Giga and Gibi). A Gigabyte is 1000 MB and 1000 MB is 1000 * 1000 KB which is 1000 * 1000 * 1000 bytes. So your iPhone has 16000000000 bytes. But a Gibibyte is 1024 MB = 1024 * 1024 KB = 1024 * 1024 * 1024 bytes = 1073741824 bytes. So let's divide the number of bytes the iPhone has (16000000000) by the number of bytes a Gibibyte is (1073741824) - we get 14.9 Gibibytes. Subtract the OS and misc files and you are left with 14.64 Gibibytes of free space.

I'm having the lag problem with my iPhone 2G upgraded to 2.0. Never noticed this problem with 1.1.4, but I can report the same issues as others have here. I added several apps, but can't remember if the problem occurred before or after the apps were installed. It's certainly occurring now. Hope Apple fixes this soon.

I also find that EDGE fails to connect when I check email after the iPhone was asleep. I sometimes find that I have to shut down the iPhone and restart it to get EDGE to work again.
