Does anyone know if the iPhone 3g will charge from the newer iDA-X100, X200 or X300 models and if so is that via the USB connection or the KCE 422i?
Thank you if you know the answer to this.
YES, The high speed USB cable charges 3g iphone as well as plays music. On another does anyone else get the choppy music play back and freeze every once in a while?
So the 3G works with the iDA-X100/200 with the high speed USB cable? Is that the separate cable - the KCE-422i? But album art doesn't display if you use that cable right? I plugged my new 3G iPhone into an iDA-X200 in a store today using the cable that's supplied with the receiver. It played my music and charged my iPhone but I got a warning on my iPhone 3G saying it was an unapproved accessory and asked me if wanted to run turn on airplane mode. I told it No and it seemed to work but I didn't try making or receiving a phone call with the iPhone while it was playing so I don't know if there would have been interference.
Never mind - the USB works great! I had forgetten that a USB to iPod adapter is included in the box, I was trying to use the one that came with my iPhone. As long as you use the supplied Alpine USB to iPod connector, it both charges and plays the music.
Just got an IDA-X100. Happy to report that it is charging the 3G iPhone and playing back very nicely. Shows album art and has an excellent interface for finding music on your iPhone. Thinking about adding a bluetooth kit to it. Anyone have it yet for the X100? What do you think?
All this being said, what a bummer that the new iPhone has forced many of us to buy new supporting equipment -- and without any prior prior warning either.
yes it does but it seems to have problems reading the ipod. I have the ida-x100 and i use my ipod 80g most of the time but i do have the bluetooth phone attachment and the iphone works good for the phone purposes but when i use the ipod part the music quality seems less then my ipod 80g.
Information about iDA-X100 being compatible with iPhone patently charging is false.
I had an iDA-X100 installed this morning. Tried the KCE-422i (Hi speed connection) cable and USB cable. The KCE-422i cable can playback sound from the iPhone 3G but it does NOT charge the **** iphone 3G. Meanwhile the USB cable will not even recognize the iPhone 3G.
Well, before you get into a strop you should read what others have posted here about the x100.. and please note that x001 does charge and work fine..
Others have reported that the x100 plays music fine but no charging... that's bad luck. How does your x100 not recognise the iphone? What does the head unit say.. does it say "i cant find anything" the same as if you had noting plugged in or does it say "error 01" or something else?
