BlueAnt Supertooth 3 transfer contacts address book to 3g iphone

What is the trick to transfer your 3g iPhone contacts to the BlueAnt Supertooth 3? It always fails. It say that transfer or phone is not supported. I can't figure out how to transfer manually. Please help! Thanks in advance.

I'd be interested to hear whether anyone can get this to work by importing contacts from a different phone via bluetooth, and then having them be recognised when the iPhone is paired. I don't think it will work, because I'd imagine the address book would be linked to the specific device pairing.

If anyone has another bluetooth phone floating around (I don't) can they try this?

The real problem is not this, it is if the Blueant has multiple phones that pair with it. The Blueant only tries to pair with last paired one and the iPhone is 'passive' in pairing.

Solution - have a connect button on the bluetooth menu on the iPhone just like other phones do.

The workaround today is to do unpair then do the full pairing process again.

Shaun,

The issue we are discussing here is not related to ST3's pairing with multiple phones.

No-one is having an issue "pairing" their iPhone to the ST3, our issue is with uploading contacts - something that used to work with iPhone 1.x.x firmware, but which (generally) no longer works with 2.x firmware.

One person that I am aware of has managed to resolve this by unpairing/re-pairing a number of times. Everyone else has been unsuccessful.

I have a iphone 3g with 2.1 and just bought a supertooth. On the first try it did not download my contacts. pairing was fine.

I reset the supertooth (chose language again) and then re-paired with the iphone and it is now at 830 contacts out of 1700 contacts and still downloading...

I did not do anything special except to try again. Followed manual for restarting:

"From OFF, press and hold MFB (1) for 6 seconds until
the Bluetooth Indicator (3) turns blinking red/blue.
A voice will then announce, “Press green button
to select British English.” Instructions for other
languages will follow."

Chose British English (better than American English), re-paired and then it downloaded.

Im running OS 10.5.5 and have an iPhone 3G running 2.2. I connected a new ST3 for the first time yesterday and it worked perfectly - except that it announces my contacts backwards. That is 'Bob Smith' gets announced as 'Call from Smith Bob"

I've tried every combination of sorting and listing (first, last:last, first) in my address book, om MobileMe and on the iPhone, all to no avail.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks..

I had the exact same experience as jag123. I thought that the iPhone would not be compatible, and was doing some research, when I ran across his comment.

I did not do anything special either except to try again. As jag123 did, I followed manual for restarting:

"From OFF, press and hold MFB (1) for 6 seconds until
the Bluetooth Indicator (3) turns blinking red/blue.

As I write this, my iPhone 3G 2.1 16G has uploaded over 1900 contacts and is still going.

I had the same question "What is the trick to transfer your 3g iPhone contacts to the BlueAnt Supertooth 3? and after reading thru these messages I reset and repaired the Supertooth 3 three times before it finally transferred the contacts (about 90)and now it works perfectly. I am using the 3g iphone (that I just got yesterday) with 2.2 software. Keep trying, it will eventually transfer the contacts.

Guys,

I've managed to get this working. (Pls refer to my previous posts in this thread for the background - in short, my contacts uploaded upon initial pairing under 1.4, however once i upgraded my iPhone to 2.1, my contacts refused to upload to the ST3). I recently upgraded my 1st gen iPhone to 2.2 and tried re-pairing/uploading - still no success.

Per my earlier post I decided to go and buy a new ST3 unit and start from scratch. The new ST3 unit paired and uploaded my 700 odd contacts first time (just as it did with my old unit under 1.4) - hooray!!

Based on my experiences therefore it seems there are 2 possibilities here. Either:
1. you get one shot at uploading contacts from your iPhone to an ST3. With both units, I have had no problem uploading contacts upon the initial pairing. It will be interesting to see what happens when i eventually upgrade my iPhone to 2.3... (this explanation is obviously unlikely, but it is consistent with my experience thus far.)

2. there are different firmwares/builds of ST3's in the market, some of which support contact uploading for iPhones running 1.x, 2.x etc. Again, unlikely but possible. My original ST3 unit has a code on the back that looks like a build number - BA152. (Recall, this unit worked under iPhone 1.x, but not under 2.x) My new unit has build number BA153. This unit worked with my iPhone running 2.2.

The best part of course is that I will simply return the original (5 month old) unit using today's receipt for the new unit, so it hasn't cost me anything to try this. (I explained to the store that I would be returning it if it didn't work with my phone).

Hope this helps - my life feels that little bit more complete having my contacts announced in that delightful english accent.
