slow response when typing

when typing on iPhone I tap the letters and they don't come up until after I tap several letters so I have to continually stop and wait for the letters to catch up. It's so slow it makes typing out email a waste. Now here is the odd thing that makes me wonder what could be causing this: I had an original iPhone, did it on that one; got the new iPhone 16g, does it on this one too. I can be on the edge, on my wifi, other's wifi. Is it a network thing ? It's weird and annoying.

it's not a search problem or an app problem -- it is typing out email and typing text messages

so it's a slow response TYPING issue

I am not sure if the problem is fixed, but for now, when I deleted all but 20 emails, the typing problem no longer was a problem. Therefore I did not update to 2.0.1, waiting to see what happens.

Well I am on a first gen iPhone now running 2.0.1 and it lags even after trying the little trick. This stinks to high heaven!!! It makes me HATE using my iPhone!

APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS BUG!

I have this same issue. Restarting seems to help but that is a bit of a drag. Hope there is a real fix soon.

Same issue. Doing the little trick of pressing the home key and going back to SMS fixes it for me until they patch this.
