iPhone 3G + wifi + YouTube = Slow!

I wonder if there are more people that have problems streaming content from YouTube on their iPhone 3G? Its no problem with my first gen. iPhone using the same wifi connection at home. I see that there are some complaints about this while googling, but Im not sure how common it is and what causes it?

Exactly the same problem here.
I can't watch youtube videos on my iphone over wifi. It's impossible. Right now I'm trying to load a 3min video and, 15 minutes after start it's only at 30% so I have to give up.

It happens both on my home and at work.

It used to work well until last update (2.2)

It's not a problem of the network. I have a simetric DSL connection here (6Mb upload and dowload) and youtube and everything else work FAST on the PC or the MacBook. Even Safari on the iPhone work well but Youtube app is completely dead.

SAME PROBLEM HERE IN ITALY!!

my added value opinion is that, if it was a network problem such that router config shoud be changed, also other web apps should be slow.

conversely it's only youtube not working... and plus it does not work only in wifi.. so I truly believe it is a strange bug... 😟 plus @my home there is no 3G coverage... 😟

I have been having the same problem as listed here... i still have the original iphone running 1.1.4 and a 3g running the latest update.

So i thought i would do a test.
I put the two phones side by side and tried to watch the same 2 minute clip.
The 1.1.4 phone streamed it seamlessly while the 3g struggled to keep up. old phone had buffered the whole clip while the 3g had only buffered about 1/4.

Some posts are saying it's a wifi router issue but this clearly shows it's a firmware issue...

Do any apple techo's read these threads because this needs attention... otherwise a **** of a lot of iphone customers will sell their phones and get the blackberry storm!

I have the same problem as well. I'm thinking it's not the firmware but the 3G phone itself. We have 4 iPhones in my house, 2 3G phones and 2 2G phones. Putting all 4 phones next to each other and streaming the same videos over wifi, the 3G phones are noticeably much slower than the 2G phones, EVERY single time. I even get an error message saying "this movie format is not supported" sometimes on my 3G phones when that same video is playing on my 2G phones perfectly.

We have 4 iphones 3G in our house. All of them are virtually unusable with youtube on wifi. We have a fast 1.5Mbps connection and Safari and everything else are good. There is something seriously wrong with the youtube app on the iPhone. My friend commented to me the other day that youtube on her iPhone is really really crap and I believe her as she is very Mac savvy.
