iPhone wifi not working

Ok so as of two days ago, my iphone has had major difficulties finding wifi networks, let alone connecting onto any of them. I live in an apartment complex and normally my iPhone shows a list of around 20 different networks, but now my phone sees none of them. I can even lay my phone on top of my router, and still nothing. Earlier today I passed by an Apple store, and my phone couldn't even pickup the free wifi there. I have already tried resetting my network settings to default on my iPhone, restored my iPhone, and still nothing.

Anybody else having this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Ever since updating my iPhone and iPad to the latestest iOS update I can't get wifi service. Sometimes the signal shows in the window but trying to connect to web pages just brings me an error about Safari being unable to load page. I'm thinking it has something to do with the latest security update on the iOS system. Must have change a firewall setting or something.

Viscous!

You are da man! I had done all that crap too... reset the phone, was planning to download new firmware, I was dreading a visit to apple care, was wondering if my warranty was good...

And, as Steve would say.. "Boom!" I read viscous' post... switched on bluetooth and lo and behold, I started getting wifi signals and was able to broadcast them too.

I knew my wifi antenna or whatever wasn't working or was switched off, as I could not get any network signal, nor could I use my iphone 4 as a hotspot, over the past 3 days.

Can you imagine it! Such a simple solution!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you viscous!

And now... *** apple?

Thank you XienceV and Viscous.

My problem: iPhone 3GS - Sometimes could see wifi network, sometimes not. Either way, though, even when allegedly 'connected' no wif-fi icon was displayed in top bar, and general speed suggested not using Wi-Fi.

I missed Viscous' original post, but having gone through the first few pages of this thread, I thought I'd look at the latest posts. I did first try KBfraney's suggestion above of going into Settings-General-Reset and then 'reset network settings. But that did not appear to work. Then I tried the above "Turn on Bluetooth". Found Wi-Fi and connected. Wi-Fi icon also appeared. Switched off bluetooth and WiFi remained. Thanks XienceV, I would not have found so easily had you not reposted from Viscous.... (Hence my similar re-post) And thanks Viscous for your solution.

I had the very same Wi-Fi problem with iPhone 4 and 3GS and iPod Touch. (Macbook Pro and iPad were working fine). I was able to solve it bij changing "Channel" from "Automatic" to 44 (5 GHz) and 12 (2.4 GHz), based on a line I found in the Time Capsule Setup Guide:

Items That Can Cause Interference with AirPort

The farther away the interference source, the less likely it is to cause a problem. The following can interfere with AirPort communication:

  • ...
  • Cordless telephones that operate in the 2.4 or 5 GHz range. If you have problemswith your phone or AirPort communication, change the channel your base station orTime Capsule uses, or change the channel your phone uses.

  • I did not try other channel numbers...this worked right away.

Wish I had it seen earlier:-/

    Cheers.

    Actually so angry.

My phone was working perfectly for almost 2 months after the iOS upgrade.. now few days ago my carrier stopped working and my wifi stopped working. I fixed the carrier problem with Restoring back my iphone4, but that messed up my Wifi signals. Wth. Its like I could either have one or the other. But now after trying to Restore the 2nd time, Wifi really does not want to work.

I tried EVERYTHING. Bluetooth off/on, wifi reset, forget wifi networks, restart routers, restarted my phone, restored it twice..

    This. Absolutely. *****.

Anyone else with ideas of how to fix this?

I'm having problems too with my 3GS. WiFi mostly not connecting for the past few weeks, compared side by side with my wife's 3G - hers has perfect connection at all times. Tried all the tricks and advice, nothing working. My contract is about to end this month so I may as well just ride it out for a few more months until I can afford an update. Still very annoying though.

For me the solultion was a new phone. The only thing I have not tried with my original iphone was a complete reset to factory via itunes. using reset on the phone (everything) I could get the phone to see networks but not join them. the iphone is 4 years old and the new 4s really shows me how dated it was. Will use it for car ipod duty as it still talks to my car cable with charge.

It's worth noting for the guy who had an apple store saying that 7 pages of thread wasn't much that there are multiple threads on this forum about the same thing.

Anyway I HAVE FIXED IT! 😁

Except I don't know how. I re-set the network settings, upgraded to IOS 5.0.1, got it to forget the network, rebooted the router, changed the mode in the router to "g & b', all the things listed here etc but the main thing was on my router I think (NETGEAR DGN 1000SP - the crappy free one that Virgin customers get in the UK). I think this problem might only occur if there are lots of other routers/wifi signals anywhere near you all using the same channel. I have quite a few and what appeared to solve it, although it could have been any of the things I tried, is chosing a specific channel on my router and not Auto. I started at the top (13 I think) and worked my way down. I'm now at 11 and everything is working great all round the house and has been for about 10 days. No more having to have it next to the router and that circly thing forever going round.

Mind you this might be a little like how my wife, when there is in excess of 50 variables, be able without fact, evidence or trial, to pinpoint what has caused a rash to appear on my daughter.
