iPhone wifi not working

Ok so as of two days ago, my iphone has had major difficulties finding wifi networks, let alone connecting onto any of them. I live in an apartment complex and normally my iPhone shows a list of around 20 different networks, but now my phone sees none of them. I can even lay my phone on top of my router, and still nothing. Earlier today I passed by an Apple store, and my phone couldn't even pickup the free wifi there. I have already tried resetting my network settings to default on my iPhone, restored my iPhone, and still nothing.

Anybody else having this problem?

Thanks in advance.

iPhone 3g 16GB, a little over 1 year old, wifi suddenly stopped working about 2 weeks ago, it returns no results when searching for a network. My wife's iPhone 3g 8GB is around 9 months old and the wifi works. Typically we have the same apps on both phones and both are running the same software version 3.1.2 (7D11). I've tried all of the fixes throughout this forum to date and nothing works. Pretty disappointing; I'm guessing it's a hardware issue.

One possible cause I can think of, it may be related to the sim card or some sort of hardware issue where the sim card is located. I was having trouble about the same time my wifi stopped working with the sim card repeatedly not found, garbled calls and dropped calls 5+ times per day. I followed a suggestion and scotch taped the sim card in place in the sim card tray and that fixed the problem 100%. The phone hasn't lost the sim card since, however some time after that I noticed I can no longer see wifi signals. I've tried removing the sim card tray and rebooting, etc., but still can't see wifi.

Go figure...

I have also had the same problem that this topic is about. This has been a problem for me since 1/20/2010. I have tried restoring both as new and from backup, no luck. Went to Genius Bar, no luck. Behavior scans can really do anything to help. Apple Genius suggested I buy a 3GS. I guess I will wait till the summer and see if the next iPhone is interesting and a great enough upgrade to drop some cash.

I concur, I have the same issue with my Iphone 3gs, sorry apple, i'm going to nexus one, tired of fighting with apple support and genius bar. Furthur note, my other 3g phones in the family have all but sucked since 3.0 software. Laggy, slow and unresponsive, locks consistently. Genius bar gave me genius advice, get a 3gs. So, guess ill switch to nexus one, more cost effective.

I know it doesn't help anyone, but this happened to me about 10 days ago. I did a full restore with no luck, took it to a Genius Bar here in Switzerland who did the same. They won't exchange it because I bought it in Australia, so here's hoping that Apple in Australia will just exchange it.

Having an iPhone with no data (only on prepaid in Switzerland) and no wifi really *****.

I also have lost the ability to connect to wifi since upgrading to 3.1.3. I have tried everything being suggested on Apple's support pages, which I suggest are lame attempts at resolving what is clearly a problem created by 3.1.3. I have never had a problem with my iphone before and would go as far as say it has been the perfect companion up until now.

Coincidence is the noteworthy alignment of two or more events or circumstances without obvious causal connection!!!

Apple's lack of response to this is in itself an admission of something being wrong with various iphone's which must share similar idiosyncrasies.

Wifi Issues, hi everybody just wanted to also say that I am a very upset Apple customer. This is a refurbished 2g iPhone that I received as a replacement for my original $500 hardware that locked up durring a software update, now 3 months out of the crap 90 day warranty on refurbs, my wifi quit. I have already gone to the store and was told that it was a hardware issue and would cost 170 to fix, or just upgrade to a 3gs.

This is crap as I expect a phone of this price would not have these types of issues. Also, if Apple believed in their products they would offer a full warranty on these busted up refurbs.

I used to be an iPhone guy. Have helped many friends and family members get setup on new iPhones. But this is the last straw, I am done supporting this crappy product.

My plan is to switch to the Google Android phone. The new Nexus One looks like a sweet phone. Apple better watch out for lots of people switching AWAY from the iPhone. Count me in!

I have this problem with a 3GS. I was able to use Cebow's tip from Nov 13 to get wifi back for a few months--but now I can't get it at all. However, I can get wifi using the app WiFiFoFum. It finds and connects to wireness networks. However, it loses them each time the phone locks--so it seems like a software issue to me. I haven't upgraded to 3.1.3 yet as I need my phone to be unlocked.
