Hope it fixes the GPS and EMAIL issues. How does one back up?

Mmm, nothing new to note here, responsiveness seems the same, reception seems the same, overall, probably some minor glitch resolved by this update (maybe the colour on one of the screens was not to someone's liking, rather than addressing the serious usability and lack of feature issues with this device)...

Sorry, needed to blurt that out.

We continue to wait for an update with some substance...

Installed the update.

Using iTunes, the app informs me that I had 3 updates of apps. Yet, when I click on the "update" only 2 show up. My phone was also showing 3 updates due.

Installed the two updates from iTunes. Selected updates again, nothing shows. On the iPhone, I have the number "1" showing on the app icon, and when I select update on the phone, it offers CaveCopter. I could NOT get iTunes to offer up the update. I did the update from the phone (wifi). After the install, only the native apps function. All other open and then instantly close.

I just completed a restore, no change, apps will not function.

I read elsewhere on this board that downloading direct to the phone could lead to this problem. That is why I was really wanting to do the update with iTunes.

I had the same issue on my 2nd phone and was only able to get things back to normal by resetting (erase all content and settings) the phone, then using iTunes to set up as a new phone. I am about to do that now, but it takes 4+ hours, so I won't know the result until I awaken in the morning.

I repeat - I had this problem under the previous (2.0.1) also, so I do not think it is the update - it is an inherent defect in the basic OS.

Hate the phone, love the gadget (when the gadget works!).

I'm completely unimpressed. I've been roaming around Europe all week and have had countless dropped calls, continuous data outages and this firmware update has done nothing to correct any of these the problems. This phone may have a huge cool factor and incredible design features but it is the most unreliable piece of hardware I've ever experienced. Apple may want to think about dropping their Mac vs PC ads or they just give MS sufficient opportunity to make the same sort of attack on the Windows Mobile vs iPhone front. I know I've signed a renewed contract with Rogers for this phone but as far as I'm concerned this is a huge service failure and and constitutes breach of contract by the service provider. I hope they fix this soon and that Apple's partners put huge pressure on them to rectify this. They can't hold me to a 3 yr contract for a service that they can't fulfill. You've got a problem brewing here Apple. Microsoft has long been criticized for premature bug filled OS releases, you're now in the same boat Apple. You may want to drop some of the arrogance and start exercising some humility.
