Phone book via bluetooth

This Forum stuff is new to me, so not sure i'm doing this correctly. I have just bought a 3G i-phone. When i bluetooth it to my car (Audi A6) the phone works fine (handsfree etc) but i cannot access my phone book via the car system. Is this a car problem, phone problem, or a me problem? Help please!

no spoke to bmw today theyve no idea some work some dont,my 2g works perfect,in every way shame realy wish i had a fix.

My phone book in my 2007 BMW 335i synchs up no problem with my 3g iphone running the 2.1 software. However, the audio quality on phone calls has an echo that my blackberry did not have. The BMW website says that it doesn't support iphone 3g software version 2.1. Does this mean never? Do I contact BMW or Apple; or get a new phone in order to have clear hands free calls in the car?
