"Key and coin SCRATCH test" video clip!!!

For anyone wondering or worried about your iPod scratching, I made a video that shows off the strength of the Invisible Shield protective film that I bought for my 60GB 5G iPod.

The video contains close ups, key scratching, and a ziploc bag full of keys and coins to "simulate" an iPod inside your pocket. In the end, my iPod remained scratch-free.

Here's the video:

Don't sue Apple if you want a scratch-free iPod... just buy a good case 🙂

So what do you think?

good job richard! i also bought the invisible shield but did not put it on my 5G yet because I'm waiting for apple to send a replacement because the one i bought had 2 dead pixels on the screen.

I'm wondering... the invisible shield I got seems like it is not cut too well at the click wheel. It seems like it is not cut all the way through at some parts and there are "double line" cuts. for instance, there is the cut-line for the click wheel and about 2mm away there is another one.

Just wondering if you guys had the same thing, and did it detract from the look?

Great Test, I'm working on buying one now, but i have a few questions..
I want my wheel to stay safe, should i get the cover for it?
also i noticed u said use some goof off to remove residue, so is this kinda like glueing the cover on?
and will the glue type of residue hurt it? or make my wheel sticky?
theres also a film currently on my ipod (came that way) i dont want to remove it, do i have to ?
and does anyone know if theres goin to be cases commin out for the 5G netime soon?
bcuz even if i get the invisablefilm i still want another case on top of that (im paranoid).
thank you all for your time.

It is suposed to have double cut lines for the click
weel. you are suposed to take out the thin strip
between the cut lines. I don't think it detracts from
the look of the player at all. I tried putting mine
on without taking out the little strip and it looked
worse than when the strip was removed

thx for the advice will. another question: is the best way to apply the shield by applying the whole front together as one piece, and then ripping off the thin strip?

Edwardo,

There are two strips between the front surface and click wheel and between click wheel and the center button. I think ripping off these strips and then apply three pieces one at a time should be better. The reason is the alignment of the strip portion. It 's hard to make sure that the strip is exactly on the edge between the clickwheel and the front when you apply the invisible shield to the whole front.
