Dropped calls has started again

Out of the blue, I started getting dropped calls again including ALL day today.
This is extremely frustrating! I was at my office and kept getting dropped calls with my wife. My wife then called my office land line phone and it she kept getting dropped calls from her location.
I drove all the way to her location and within three feet we both still experienced dropped calls.
Before left the office to go see my wife I rebooted the phone thinking that would be the magical fix. Guess not!

Anyone else experiencing dropped calls? Are there any plans to for a Iphone 3g recall because the software fixes are not working.

I like the Iphone concept but it was poorly executed.

I feel for you. I'm on my third - it was a gift, and I'm going to give the upcoming FW update a shot before I give it a shot, but...

Over the past few weeks I've dropped a bunch of calls. August thru the beginning of September were particularly bad, then it was fine after I'd exchanged for a third device. I've received a couple Washingtons worth of credits from ATTWS.

Until about three weeks ago, when I started dropping calls again - six during one conversation with another ATTWS subscriber! Another credit from ATTWS. This time, I'd just found out about the new diagnostic software available at the Genius Bar; when it was getting checked out, the SW showed that my iPhone was the source of the problem - dropping 14% of its calls over two weeks (with light usage) and the modem had reset at least 5 times. I was told they can be replaced with a greater than 10% drop rate - I'll be seeking yet another credit...

I told the person helping me that I would try again, wipe and restore as a new iPhone, install the new FW - and see what happens. After a fresh restore, my second call - from my sis in Tampa, another ATTWS subscriber - got all garbled and dropped. It's either the 2.1 firmware or the iPhone's hardware or the network's not working with the device. Get yours checked out - if it's not your iPhone, call ATTWS and tell them about your problems with the network.

I'm on my 2nd 3G iPhone and the only way to avoid dropped calls has been to turn off 3G. A very nice ATT&T support lady said that the chipset Apple uses in the 3G iPhone is not reliable. I don't know about that but she also mentioned that ATT&T's 3G network is being hammered and isn't capable of sustaining the load. Surprising coming from a vendor but refreshing also.

As a customer, I don't really care who's fault it is but this turning off 3G to use the phone is not what I call a good user experience. The phone should just work without jumping through hoops.

And over the weekend another one bit the dust. After a wipe, the iPhone dropped the first call I got - from my sis on her ATTWS phone. A few call failures. Then the WiFi chip went bonkers overnight, and I had left it turned off! And another dropped call first thing this morning. Grrrrrr.

I'm using my latest replacement, we'll see. And I'm picking up 850 signals for the first time at my house... I'm about ready to check out a new WinMo PDA!
