as far as I know it works...I just wish there was a cheaper solution that could pass dvi + audio to HDMI

i contacted apple care yesterday and after a long hold they came back and said no adapter existed and it was impossible to get digital audio out of the macbook... ?!? I crosseyed myself and said ok, lol.

So any news on the someone making us a cable??

I didn't get whether the mini DP handles audio or not.

So 36 hours into my first mac and i'm digging that it aint perfect!!

if audio is availible thru the mini DP then who ever makes its HDMI cable to match will make loads of cash, but i'd like a free one!

whats funny is i have a brand new sony lcd, its beautiful and all the cables are seamlessly sunk into my newly painted walls. I wasn't even aware that mini DP's were gonna be the new standard or i would have made a different purchase, but hey technology moves so fast.... thats the fun bit, isn't it!

I recon we need a tv with a ipod touch docker on the side, the macs then link wifi-like to the ipod and hey presto, we could even see the dvd cover on the docked ipod while the film is showing.... i dream of weird stuff

Actually the article only says "reportedly" it will not support audio. Perhaps it will actually carry audio -- though I am an optimist.

I'm using the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adaptor, and a cable which is DVI at one end and HDMI at the other. This does work with my Toshiba LCD TV - though obviously no sound, I connect a 1.8" jack to RCA cable to my amplifier.

However, the picture on the TV cuts off the menu bar at the top of the screen. I can find no settings for overscan either in OS X or on the TV itself. It's therefore not usable as a monitor, but is sort of OK for childrens applications which was my intended use (wireless mouse and keyboard, MacBook Pro safely out of reach).

The 24" LED display includes speakers - do these get audio via USB or via the mini DisplayPort (the picture shows both are connected to the MacBook)?

Come on Apple and get the MiniDP to HDMI adapter on the shelf!

This is surely ridiculous. I think the reason is that displayport ja hdmi are competitors.

if this kind of adapter will ever be on market it would be nice to know if will support hdcp...

I have this shiny new MacBook but I elegantly can't plug it into my HDMI TV.
Make the cable. Get it on the shelf.
Tardiness and neglect make for agro customers..... Grrrrrr....
