Automatic rotate/orientation now broken?

It appears to me (on two computers) that installing the recent Apple Camera Raw 2.3 (or another recent Apple update) has caused Aperture to no longer properly perform the automatic rotation of portrait oriented photos. Is anyone else having this experience?

For both my Nikon D700 and D300, when importing portrait oriented photos they are no longer being automatically rotated. Additionally, the imported image metadata is being set correctly and manually rotating a portrait photo (that is appearing sideways, i.e., landscape, but with metadata saying "portrait") changes the orientation but also changes the metadata to say "landscape".

This appears to be the case only when importing directly from the memory card (via a card reader). If I copy the photos to the hard drive first and then import them, it seems to work fine.

Is anyone else experiencing this bug? Can you pinpoint it to the recent Camera Raw 2.3 update? Is Apple aware of the issue?

Mac Pro/MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.5), Aperture 2.1.2/Camera Raw 2.3

Well I can confirm that the Apple Camera Raw 2.4 update fixes this issue with my D40x using a Sandisk USB 2.0 card reader.

BUT the images that were previously imported without being rotated (which I then manually rotated thereby changing the orientation flag to horizontal) are still listed as horizontal even though they appear in a vertical orientation. Oh well. Hopefully this doesn't get messed up later on. At least its only a few images.
