Hi @ndy - I have a friend who installed the Kingston Valueram on his 2.4 Macbook Unibody and did not have any problem, in fact he is the one who is recommending me to get a Valueram too. It just so happen that there is no stocks by the time I bought mine, and they told me to try the Jetram (from Transcend). I left my Macbook running overnight, and have put it to sleep several times and it always start up fine when I open it up.

Everyone posting if their 3rd party RAM works or not really tells us nothing. We need to know the root cause of the issue with 3rd party RAM. In other words what is it about the Apple OEM RAM that makes it work and the 3rd party sticks fail?

I've read a few threads which talk about the Apple OEM RAM having some type of additional controller on their sticks. But really there is no definitive word that calls out what about the Apple RAM is different/better.

Once we know whats included on the Apple OEM RAM we can go out and find the 3rd party RAM that includes the same feature.

Until we know this detail all the back and fourth about "mine works", "mine doesn't work" "oh wait mine did work but now it crashes"... is just running all of us in circles.

APPLE PLEASE SPEAK UP AND HELP US!! We're not paying $300 for RAM that should cost $100 or less.

I purchased 2 4 gig sticks from crucial and my system has been working flawlessly for over 3 months. Even contacted Crucial via online chat to make sure it would work. The only problem I had was getting to it. Make sure to have jewelers tools to access the section of the your macbook. I them go a clear case to encase the entire thing. I am very happy with the results. My total cost was $103.00, which included a 2 gig usb drive. I think you should be able to get it for around $79.00. There's no way I'm paying $300!

There are no guarantees anything will work for everyone.

I would recommend [Crucial|http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=2E9B2B4EA5CA7304] for $65.99, [Crucial from Newegg|http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148191] for $52.99, or [OWC|http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/8566DDR3S4GP> for $64.99.

So then why even post "My RAM Works"?

Again, we should troubleshoot and look for the root cause of the issue. Apple needs to define what it is about their RAM that is missing in the third party RAM. Then we can look at the third party RAM suppliers to ensure it has the same spec as the Apple RAM.

Until we have that answer posting "I Got X RAM and i have no problems" just runs us in circles and gets us no closer to a resolution.

APPLE PLEASE HELP US OUT! WHAT IS THE ROOT ISSUE WITH THIRD PARTY RAM?

If you read in some of the other "random freezing" threads, you'll notice that I was one of the first discussing the issue in October I had with my 2GHz MB and 4GB of OWC RAM. I RMAed it and the replacement didn't function either. Eventually, I was contacted by Apple through these boards and I made an appointment at an Apple Store and they exchanged my computer for a brand new one with 4GB pre-installed with "Apple Branded" RAM. I'm not sure what information they got from my machine as they wanted to research the issue with the RAM but nobody here has obviously heard anything about it. There have of course been firmware updates and some people seem to have had their issue fixed but most people are left in the dark.
