10.5.7 - Bluetooth keyboard and mouse not working anymore

Updated to 10.5.7 and since then after some minutes my Appley wireless keyboard and the mighty mouse do no work anymore.

Note that the connection is not lost. When I then turn bluetooth off, the system tells me that the connection got lost and when I turn it on again it works as before. But after some minutes it won't works.

This happens on a new MBP.

How can I solve this problem?

MBP, Dual Xeon, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Just wanted to chime in that I have a 17" macbook pro 2.6mhz (mid 2008), and I have this same issue with intermittent disconnect of my mighty mouse and apple blue tooth keyboard. As everyone else notes it's extremely annoying, and only seems to come back after fiddling with turning off/on bluetooth and/or reconnecting. This never happened to me previous to doing combo update for 10.5.7.

I'm having the same problem with a MacBook Pro 2.4 15" (not unibody). No problems before 10.5.7. Since updating to 10.5.7 my Apple bluetooth keyboard is essentially unusable due to the frequency of the disconnects. Driving me crazy trying to get work done. The bluetooth Mighty Mouse has similar issues, but not as severe. I've tried many of the same remedies as the above with no success.

I have a Mac Mini that I use as a DVR. I use a bluetooth remote from a PS3 as my remote control. This was working beautifully under 10.5.6 but after upgrading to 10.5.7 it has become quite unreliable. At first I thought it was a battery problem, but after reading this thread I think it is a bug in the bluetooth software in 10.5.7.

Same here with my wireless mighty mouse on a macbook pro. I have been turning the mouse on and off then pairing it again. Then it works again but loses connection after about an hour or so. But less often, on a couple of occasions when I lost the mouse connection, the trackpad stopped working, too, I was unable to click. So I needed to reboot to get the trackpad working again.

I had the same problem with 10.5.6. My frustration is that I don't have a wired keyboard or mouse for my iMac. I would have to use the power button to turn the system off and back on to reconnect the mighty mouse and keyboard. This problem prompted me to buy the Airmouse app (works via wi-fi) for my iPhone so I could switch BT off and on again.

I updated to 10.5.7 and haven't had the problem since, but I guess this update didn't fix the problem for everyone.

I've been having intermittent Bluetooth lockups for months. When it got into this state in previous versions of Leopard, attempting to look at Bluetooth settings in System Preferences would cause it to report that the system had no Bluetooth hardware installed. At that point, the only solution seemed to be to reboot the machine. Now when it locks up in 10.5.7, just going to Bluetooth preferences -- and doing nothing else -- immediately resets the Bluetooth module. I guess this is (relatively speaking) an improvement, but it's seriously frustrating.
