10.5.7 - Bluetooth keyboard and mouse not working anymore

Updated to 10.5.7 and since then after some minutes my Appley wireless keyboard and the mighty mouse do no work anymore.

Note that the connection is not lost. When I then turn bluetooth off, the system tells me that the connection got lost and when I turn it on again it works as before. But after some minutes it won't works.

This happens on a new MBP.

How can I solve this problem?

MBP, Dual Xeon, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

This has worked for me. I reinstalled the combo update with all of my Bluetooth Devices turned OFF. Using just the keyboard and trackpad on my Macbook Pro. After the install, I turned the computer OFF a few times, two or three; I believe. After that I turned on my Bluetooth Mighty Mouse, and I have NOT had a lost connection since.

This worked for me.

Thanks.

After 10.5.7, I lose the connection on the keyboard intermittently. The mouse remains connected, but it is very slow and skittish, usually when waking from sleep. The solution is to go to System Preferences (or menu option) and toggle Bluetooth off and back on. You get a warning stating that Bluetooth cannot be turned off, but if you click OK, the box will uncheck. You still have mouse control so you can check the box to turn it back on, and all is well again. So it may be an issue with waking from sleep. I also noticed that it takes a few seconds to wake from sleep after hitting a key on the keyboard. This was not an issue with 10.5.6 or earlier. Glad Apple is aware of it and working on it.

How does your wireless mouse respond after waking from sleep? Is it slow and skittish across the screen?

too early to tell it the firmware upgrade helps, did work ok so far...

BUT, today I could not put my computer to sleep just by closing the laptop lid as I normally do! The attached monitor was still running. Sleep was working when putting to sleep by using the menu. After 'manually' putting to sleep the close-lid style did work again...

Maybe just some other weirdness or the firmware upgrade managed to break the sleep thing...

Anyone else having this issue as well?

Peter Hillman said in an earlier posting that:
[the Bluetooth update and fix] .. only applies with Macs that have Bluetooth chips from Broadcom.

It would be a great help, if those who still have issues report what type of Bluetooth chips they have. Go to "About this mac" choose Hardware and Bluetooth.
